Assisted suicide
Assisted suicide is a form of suicide offered by physicians in certain states that have legalized it. It usually comes in a pill form. The only way you can receive this pill is from a doctor and only if you are eligible for it. This usually means you have a terminal illness or something of that nature. Assisted suicide is meant to be a last resort option all other avenues should be considered first. Assisted suicide is the act of ending ones life for a specific reason approved by a doctor. The first documented study on the assisted suicide took place in the Netherlands in 1990-1995 put on by doctors from the New England Journal of Medicine. For the assisted suicide to be legal the person has made an active and voluntary request to end their life. It is thought that they have sufficient mental capacity to make an informed decision regarding their care. It is agreed that the person is suffering unbearably and there is no prospect for an improvement in their condition. To be able to be eligible for the “treatment” you have to be older than eighteen years old, have a terminal illness, and in the right mind for consent. The reason why I see that is because it’s a issue of does she have the right because she is doing it to her self so like abortion it comes down to weather its going to be right or wrong. If it becomes legalized it will bring up a lot of controversy because it’s a matter of morals and if you think it’s the right thing to do. Some Christians will say it’s wrong because you are prematurely ending your life thinking that there is no hope but there is God has a plan for you. Some non Christians will say she is her own person and it’s her right to do what ever she pleases. The topic of assisted suicide will also divide the church because even though some Christians may believe that it’s wrong they would still commit assisted suicide if they had a terminal illness or anything that would make them eligible for the
