TOPIC: THE MURDER ON ORIENT EXPRESS BY AGATHA CHRISTI.
The murder of Samuel Ratchet on the orient express seems to be a complex issue that revolves around certain behaviors on part of Mr. Ratchet. This can closely be associated with a number of reasons based on the perpetrators of the murder. When Mr. Ratchet realized that his life was in danger, he approached one of the passengers’ Hercule Poirot and persuaded him to take his gun and conduct an investigation on who was threatening his life. However, Poirot declined the offer he was given. It is understood that commotions started developing within the Ratchet’s compartments as screams were heard although when the conductor made an inquiry he was replied all was well.

Ratchet was a wanted criminal from the United States. He had kidnapped a three old heiress known as Daisy Armstrong in New York. Mr. Ratchet was formally known as Lanfranco Casseti while in the United States. Despite the Armstrong family making offerings to Lanfranco Cassetti to release Daisy, he went ahead to murder her. The murder of Daisy made her mother to have premature labor pain and both the baby and the mother died. The husband also shot himself as the suspected nursemaid, Susanne committed suicide. Although Cassetti was arrested, he used his resources and wealth to get acquainted out of court and fled away from his country to escape from further prosecution. It is an exile where Cassetti meets his death. It seems as if Cassetti’s murder was a retaliation and vengeance of what he had done to Armstrong’s family.
