Reading is a part of everyday life and almost everything around us requires reading. Reading is important because it helps us in the subjects of school that we are having difficulties with. When we read, it helps us develop so we can process information easier. It helps improve our English and enunciation. Reading improves our memory and keeps our brain engaged with an activity. This book talks about a girl who is moving onto eighth grade. Her mother is diagnosed with breast cancer. She makes a promise that she would help her mom out around the house and get 500 sponsors for the Race for the Cure walk. While reading this book, it opened my eyes to the fact that life isn’t always going to go the way that we planned. I also learned that with the help of family and friends, we can accomplish our goals. When I read this book, it opened my eyes when Erica accomplished her goal of recruiting 500 sponsors with the help of her family and friends. These lessons and similar lessons to these are important because they can help me get through the troubles of life if I have any difficulties. In this book there is more than one lesson that opened my eyes to something new. I also learned that when an unfortunate event happens, don’t panic or worry because it is not going to solve the problem. This book opened my eyes when I finally found out the heart-breaking news of Lisa’s breast cancer. I learned that it is not an easy illness to cope with. While reading this book it opened my eyes when Erica stepped up and was being the big sister and taking care of chores around the house.
