Approved on 15th of November in 1777 by Congress and confirmed by the state on March 1, 1781, The Articles of Confederation were a humbled effort by a new country to consolidate itself and to create an ideal national government. The Articles were said to have been a “firm league of friendship” () between the states which means that these thirteen states would cooperate and commute together, but leaving out a principal form of government; hence to give limited powers to the central government. However, to some states the current form of government was not satisfying because the Articles of Confederation will come out to be too disadvantageous. Constitution will become the saving grace for America. Written in 1787, Constitution was requesting united and more powerful government. There were many differences between Articles of Confederation and Constitution. One of the main differences was the way they form the Legislature. In the AoC the Legislature was established as a unicameral where the states created a national Congress. In the other had, the Constitution set up a bicameral legislature in which each state in Congress was represented by its population. This change was caused by disagreements between states; different states wanted the different ways of selecting representatives. Articles of Confederation ranked and represented all states equally, thus bigger states requested more power in the decision making. Smaller states could not agree on this request. The states with larger populations wanted their representation to be based on their population; while the states with smaller populations wanted a stable number of representatives (one per each state) regardless of their size or of their population. The Constitution has lasted for over two centuries and is constantly busting up government and its function today. The Articles of Confederation and its ideas were strong and powerful in bettering the US and its government. However, the realization of its ideas and an improvement of federal government and states representatives were not successful enough. On the other hand, the government under the Constitution was radically different from the one under the Articles of Confederation. United State's economical, political, cultural, and social aspects and statuses changed under the new type of powerful government, with different type of voting, and by the new way of levying taxes. Constitution of the US prevented people from gaining too much power, and it was the greatest success of the US government.
