Attributes of a Leader
Miracle, Zachary T.
Each leader in the army has attributes, which are character, presence, and intellect. The way each leader interprets the attributes is how they develop their own leadership style. The purpose of leader attributes is to give us guidelines of things we obtain. Attributes of a Non-Commissioned Officer are what makes us unique. We all have attributes as a leader, which are character, presence, and intellect. The three key leader attributes are there to guide us on who we should be as leaders for those who look to us for answers. However, each individual leader is different in his or her own way. We do not have to use the guidelines to follow and convey ourselves as the same. Leaders can take the attributes

Character entails Army Values, Empathy, Warrior Ethos/Service Ethos, and Discipline. The army values show not only leaders, soldiers, but family as well things we can follow to be accountable for our lives. Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless-Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage are values all styles of leadership should possess. Empathy is the ability to understand others and what they are feeling. Having empathy lets our soldiers know that we care and will always place their needs above our own. The warrior ethos is necessary to being a leader as well as a soldier first. Discipline is abiding by rules or things set in place. It sets the example for soldiers to follow. Doing all of the things that word character holds makes a great leader. Character can be perceived differently and used in a way that makes a leader unique. Intellect is having the knowledge. Intellect entails Mental Agility, Sound Judgement, Innovation, Interpersonal tact, and Expertise. Mental agility is being able to overcome and adapt to mentally strenuous challenges or obstacles. Being mentally agile allows you to keep a cool and collected thought process throughout tough moments. Sound judgement can be helpful to think positively and think thoroughly through any given situation. In addition, having the ability to think through obstacles with sound judgement aids mental agility. Innovation can be anything from thinking up an idea to actually carrying out the act. Innovation is crucial to being an intellectual leader. Interpersonal tact helps us overcome any diversity in our lives as well as stabilize and balance any arising issues. Expertise is the most important of all sub-topics under intellect. You have to be a knowledgeable leader as well as an expert in your profession. All of the intellect sub-topics are about being mentally fit. Without a healthy mind, we cannot think thoroughly and carry out our jobs as

A leader is made up of many qualities. Max Depree is the author of Leadership Jazz. In this novel Depree talks about leadership and how it is an art. Depree really goes in depth about leadership and gives many relevant examples. It showed me that there is a lot more to leadership then I originally thought. One of the main characteristics of a leader is integrity.
I strive as a leader and a person to live fully each day, laugh often and love intensely. I strive every day to have more patience, to say kinder words, to gossip less, be a good friend, good teacher, and a good mentor. In addition, I try not to be too hard on myself when I do not always succeed at those things, which is often I might add! Then I remind myself to remember that all I can do is try harder next time and learn from my mistakes and hope that my soldier see that I am imperfect and just as they are. I think that really what my leadership philosophy is to be the best leader that I can be and strive to maintain the army standards and follow the basic
All soldiers, especially leaders, are highly recommended to keep a certain set of values that radiate throughout the entire U.S. Army. They are challenged to keep them near and dear to their hearts and to define and live them every day. A leader is one who takes these challenges serious and abides by
In the conclusion, three attributes are important elements that form a profession in the Army. Soldiers become better leaders because of their well trained and educated. Soldiers are more expert on what and how to do the jobs. Army also learned from mistakes and developed concepts to earn the trust back from people. Moreover; Army adopt values to shape its structure
In the military we look for leadership in different forms from many people starting from the Private to the Commander of the unit. Leadership will build the trust of a unit through positive moral or it could break a unit with low morale. Leadership as the ability to influence a group toward the achievement of a vision or set of goals (Robbins & Judge, 2009). I as Soldier I get to observed leaders at their job and
Many individuals in our military today have this notion that just because they earned their “stripes” that they automatically deserve respect, and that their subordinates should and will listen to them strictly because of what is on their chest. A true leader not only leads, develops, and mentors, but they embody and apply those leader competencies in their everyday life both on and off duty. Being a leader doesn’t mean you always have to be the mean guy. It means that you can successfully provide purpose, direction and motivation to make your Soldiers want to work for you to accomplish the mission. In this paper, I will discuss and give examples about the difference between Competent Leadership
Character from multiple points of view is everything in leadership. It is comprised of numerous things, however I would say character is truly integrity. When you delegate something to a subordinate, for instance, it is totally your obligation, and he must understand this. You as a leader must assume complete liability for what the subordinate does. Trustworthiness, integrity, the characteristic of never purposely doing anything incorrectly, that you would never lie, cheat, or take, that you would give everyone a reasonable arrangement. Character is kind of a broad thing. In the event that a man has character everybody has trust in him. Soldiers must have trust in their leader.
To be a good leader you must be strong-minded, but more importantly you have to be intelligent. Someone who is smart can back up his or her statements with fact. If someone is intelligent people are more likely to listen to their ideas before someone who is less intelligent. If one is intelligent they have the ability to instruct a group properly. And if one is intelligent they can organize all of the groups projects better the a less intelligent person.
Soldiers must now mind their own career, ignoring anyone else that may be an inconvenience. These soldiers are eventually raised up to become our leaders by other leaders who recognize their potential to improve

It will clearly define what character means to the United States Army and identify values instilled in an Army professional throughout their career. As Soldiers progress through their careers, the United States Army sets different goals when it comes to character development. This paper will highlight what a leader of character should be and what values they should have. Other attributes of a leader are selflessness, knowledge, organization, humility, and trust. Perhaps the most difficult part of being a leader is knowing that each decision you make will h...
One of the most important components of leadership is the leader. A leader is responsible for his or her followers and the overall goal of the group or organization. Leaders are the people held accountable or everything that happens, good or bad. On the other hand, the second major component of leadership is the followers. Without followers, a leader would be worthless. Followers make up the backbone of a leader because they are the masses that get goals accomplished. A leader is just one person, but the number of followers is countless. In order to be an effective follower, there are a countless number of characteristics that allow a follower to be the best they can be. Five of these characteristics include a positive attitude, communication skills, being part of the process, being open to new ideas, and patience.
Another aspect of leadership includes leadership traits such as being influential and inspirational. There also different contexts of leadership, e.g, leading oneself, leading other individuals, leading groups, leading organizations. Some traits that are often associated with being an effective leader include a measure of intelligence, high energy, self confidence, dominance, and a need for achievement. An effective, charismatic leader must lead by example. That leader must be able to know what is going on, the job or task that is being accomplished, and be able to lead the group into performing the task at hand successfully.
