The constitution protects a woman’s right to choose whether they want an abortion as an option, even if it is a teenager. Ronnie Gunnerson “parents also have rights “, from Newsweek, March 2, 1987. The pregnancy of Gunnerson’s teen step-daughter exhibited that parents aren’t the ones who determine whether their teenager bears a baby or not. The United States has one of the highest rates of teenage pregnancy in the world and 3/10 teenagers get pregnant at least once before turning 20. Should society alter the law that parents have no legal rights in a teen pregnancy? The parents of a pregnant teen should be permitted to be financially, educationally responsible in addition, creating an emotional support system with parents and the teen that concerns the baby. Gunnerson points out how parents are held accountable for the pregnancy expensive budget, even though the parents aren’t in control. Parents have a right to make sure the teen has a job to help with the cost of clothes, diapers and whatever the baby may need. Parents can help teach the teen about budgeting and putting the baby needs before their own. When a teenager become pregnant, they usually drop out of school. Becoming a mother is the main reason why teen girls drop out and 50% of them never graduate high school. Parents and s can better prepare themselves with parenthood classes. Babies born to teenage mothers are more likely to die within the early weeks of their lives than those of an older woman. Counseling can mentally prepare both parents and teen about the upcoming circumstances.
