Recommended: Modern war on drugs

The War on Drugs is a government campaign that began from a speech given by Richard Nixon in 1971. Drugs had been proclaimed as “public enemy number one” and there was a goal set out to completely stop, prohibit and to punish those who utilized or were correlated with illegal drugs. The War on Drugs is a long out spoken topic with good intentions but failures within its plan. The War on Drugs should be continued because this engagement can help create a drug-free place/community, reduce drug-related crimes and profits the local authorities.
Drugs have been a problem for a long time in our community and there are many individuals that play a part in The War on Drugs. Creating a drug-free place within the public can seem almost impossible, but this could be attainable with the importance of information being put out there to both main sources; the government, drug sellers and users. With the legalization of marijuana growing, many people are not going against the prohibition of it. With some of the population at peace of mind, the information of dangerous illegal drugs and drug abuse should be brought to their attention to help make their community a drug free place. …show more content…

This effort may cause a different reaction than from what is desired and cause people to try and get their hands on drugs even more just because rules are being enforced, but this campaign insures drug addicts and pushers are penalized accordingly. The War on Drugs is punishing those who are involved with illegal drugs therefore those that are penalized will not have influence over others.
