Imagine waking up one morning, expecting to look out the window at the rising sun, but instead looking straight into the windows of a flying saucer carrying interstellar passengers. Well, according to several professionals, artifacts from ancient history, and biological chemicals, this very well may be a possibility on Earth in the future. There have been assumptions and theories about aliens for several millennia, with reported sightings of both aliens and UFOs; but for the most part they go recognized as fraudulent alibis from “crazies.” However, there have been instances when whole cities caught a glimpse of a flying saucer in the sky creating crop circles or terrorizing herds of cows. Once again, Presidents and astronauts alike claim that there is evidence of UFOs and aliens hidden by the government. Among those who have made claims as witnesses are Edgar Mitchell, Cady Coleman and Dr. Brian O’Leary. The witnesses also claim that the government has knowledge of alien existence and is involved in numerous cover-ups. Additionally, President Jimmy Carter described his own encounter with other-worldly life. Upon further inquiry into his own experience, he ordered the CIA to release documents regarding UFOs or aliens. The CIA denied the President’s request, which leaves the question: What are they hiding that they cannot release the the President of the United States? The other 38% people have their own reasons for disbelief, but the most popular is religion. Many people who believe in a monotheistic religion believe that their god made humans uniquely and specially. The British Broadcasting Company’s Brandon Ambrosino wrote an article on how religions would react to the discovery of aliens. Ambrosino writes that faithful people, upon discovery of alien life, would “feel insignificant, and as a consequence… question their faith.” Later, he writes that the faithful in a god would come to the conclusion that if their god spent such care into creating humans uniquely, a discovery would mean that “God’s life is spent visiting the many worlds throughout the cosmos.” Instead of believing that humans are not the only life and love of God, they choose to believe in their faith that humans are the only unique, intelligent life form in the universe. However, choosing to believe that humans are alone in the universe is a much scarier concept than the thought of their being other intelligent life. Therefore, to say that God is less mindful of the people of Earth because He has other children is egocentric.
