There is much controversy on why community college should be free or not. People want to make school more affordable but community college already is. Community college is route people take in order to save money and still get an education. Many community college students are able to qualify for waivers and the rest are able to pay it off. Introducing a system where community college would be free would be very costly for the the government . I personally believe that making community college free would negatively affect the work habits of the students. Many students are able to pay for community college because of the many federal aid programs such as FAFSA. I learned from past experience from researching psychology and human behavior that always having something can lead people to take it for granted. If community college was always free that can lead people to take the opportunity for granted and delay going to school because it’s always available. Another motive/key aspect students have to succeed and do well in school is that they have to pay to retake a:class,lab,test, etc if they don’t past. Now if you take away the aspect of having to pay for community college students wouldn’t be as scared of not passing a class because they can just retake it at no cost. One might say that not all students are able to pass a class on the first time, and it’s horrible having to pay for a class again and having free community college would be very beneficial for them . That is a good argument but having to repay for a class is just going to motivate them to be successful more because no one is going to want to repay for a class a third or even in some cases a fourth time. What I said early still implies, students need to know there is consequences and having to pay for school gives them that and motivates them to
