Rough Draft (The Mexican American War)
Some americans say that nations hinge on each other, while others say they also compete with one another. This gives rise to rivalry, which sometimes leads to war. Some wars emerge from differentiation in race, religion and culture. Due to the evolution of technology in an accelerated pace, highly sophisticated weapons are now available for use in wars. Wars also bring about widespread destruction, disrupt communication and hamper commerce. Thus, they cause heavy financial loss and great suffering to people. The effects of wars often affect countries that are not involved in the conflict. The threat of war can pressure a nation to waste immense amounts of money on defense instead of spending on developmental works like creating roads, hospitals, schools, and much more. War can halt a countries development. Some countries try to achieve political desires by using terrorism as a weapon against other countries. Terrorism spreads fear in civilians through acts of violence like killings and hostages. This intimidation has transformed into worldwide threat.
Ever since the Union declared their independence from Britain in 1776, their nation has been part of a violent aspect of the world. The fight for independance cost thousands of lives for the Americans including the soldiers from the royal land. During this time, the Union had created thirteen small colonies on the east coast of the continent of North America. Throughout the following century, the thirteen colonies expanded across the continent fulfilling manifest destiny. ...n. In article five of the treaty, the boundary between the nations was determined. This primarily the borders that we had today. Since Americans were in complete control of Mexico during this time, the signing of the treaties would kick america out and give Mexico control of their new shrunken territory. The agreement also talked about if another war does erupt between them again, the countries can not hurt the innocent including women, children, ecclesiastics, farmers,merchants, rich people, unarmed citizens and many more. Houses and other respected buildings like churches, hospitals, schools and colleges can not be destroyed. The Treaty was ratified by the president on march 16, 1848 and was made official on July fourth, 1848. The Americans gave the Mexicans only 15 million for all the land they got;stealing more than half of the Mexican empire.

The author also analyzes the role that the Mexican War played in bringing on the U.S. Civil War.
Was the U.S. Justified in going to war with Mexico? The war between the United States and Mexico was brutal, but yet very interesting. “Today, we stand as a united country and are much closer to the ideals set forth in our Constitution that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” The first sentence of this quote is a perfect example of the Mexican American War, the war we were supposed to be united. The Treaty of Guadalupe was the beginning of a new era amongst Mexico and the United States, which would forever change how the US and Mexico would deal with each other. The Mexican-American War was in 1846, many Americans and Mexicans died. Mexico was trying to win back the land they once had, while America wanted more of their land for their belief manifest destiny. The Mexican-American war was started by a simple mistake, the Americans went to Mexico to ask for more land. While some Americans were camping in Texas a group of Mexican soldiers killed all of the Americans. This was because American and Mexico haven’t decided on whose territory Texas was since The Alamo. The United States was not justified in going to war with Mexico because America came in and broke the laws, there were no borders for Texas, and America stole Mexico's land. A couple years later, President Polk went to go ask Mexico for some of their land because of their belief called Manifest destiny. Which was the belief that God wanted to expand America's land from Texas all the way to the Pacific.
Beginning in 1845 and ending in 1850 a series of events took place that would come to be known as the Mexican war and the Texas Revolution. In February 2, 1848, the final armistice treaty Guadalupe Hidalgo was signed, through which the United States government got the access to entire area of California, Nevada, Utah plus some territory in Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico and Wyoming. As a compensation, the United States government paid 18.25 million dollars to Mexico.( Pecquet, Gary M., and C. F. Thies. 2010) However, apart from the death of people, Mexico lost half of its territory in this war, which initiate Mexican’s hostile towards American. In addition, after the Mexican-American war, there was an absence of national sense in Mexican, which had a negative effect on the unity and development of the country.
It did not take much time after the US obtained this new land that thousands of Chicanos lost their homelands. These Native citizens had already gained the ownership of their property through Spanish or Mexican law, however, due to the fact that United States courts did not recognize these laws these natives were stripped of their land. According to a prominent Chicano activist, Reyes Lopez Tijerina, the United states had unlawfully taken away these citizens’ land. Tijerina debates that, after the Mexican American war the United States and Mexico signed the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which promises these native free enjoyment of their property. However, by stripping the land from these natives the United States is going against the promise it made in the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, of allowing natives to enjoy their land or property. By going against this treaty the United States is going against its own laws, because due to the United States Constitution, article twelve, section two, which states that all treaties created by the United States are the supreme law, the treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo is a law1.
Mexican-American War, also known as the Mexican war or the invasion of Mexican, which occurred from April 1846 to February 1848. This war is very meaningful to the United States, which determined whether it could become the most powerful nation or not, also established the size of the United States. The war involved American and Mexican fighting over Texas, after the United States had annexed Texas as the fifteenth slave state. There were several causes for the war happening, some of which major and the others of which minor. However, the most important reasons were the idea of manifest destiny, Texas War of Independence, westward movement of the American, the refuse of negotiating of Mexico and the border dispute.
Most people say that migration of Mexicans to America is a big problem in our country. They say that every immigrant is bad and all they bring to America is drugs. Well that is not true because immigrants actually help this great country. Today we are going to focus on Mexican immigrants. We will talk about different views that people have on it. The Mexican-American war determined the destiny of the United States of America, it determined whether or not it would become a world power and it established the size of the United States of America. Perhaps the war was inevitable due to the idea of Manifest Destiny - Americans thought they had the divine right to extend their territory. The Mexican-American War started mainly because of the annexation of the Republic of Texas (established in 1836 after breaking away from Mexico). The United States and Mexico still had conflicts on what the borders of Texas was, the United States claimed that the Texas border with Mexico was the Rio Grande, but the Mexicans said that it was the Nueces River, so the land in between were disputed and claimed by both the United States and Mexico.
The Mexican-American war was a process of years of battles between the Mexicans and Americans but I think after this informational paper, you’ll seem to know a little bit more knowledge about it. How it all started, well in the beginning, the Americans and Mexicans both wanted to control Texas, but at the time it was a part of the Mexican territory, well soon enough Americans wanted control over it so badly that they started to travel into Texas’s land. Part of the reason why Americans wanted it so badly was because it was a big land and had lots of resources and just did not want the Mexicans to have any control over it.
