Most people remember the blazing hot summer day when they were dying for water and had to take a big gulp from their water hose to get a refreshing drink of water? It probably felt and tasted like the best drink of water they ever had. It did not have a certain chlorified stench or an awful aftertaste due to iron. This certain type of water is known as tap water and people use it almost every day. Tap is mostly used because it is extremely cheap, environmentally friendly to the world and leaves a refreshing aftertaste. Tap water can be used to refill a bottle over and over again. While bottled water is typically a 16 ounce bottle you would have to repeatedly buy bottles for a dollar each . Over 4,787 bottles of water could be filled with tap water for two dollars and ten cents (Miller). That is 4,787 bottles for two dollars total compared to one bottle of water for two dollars each. Compared to tap water, bottled water is outrageously expensive. Most places offer water for free making it accessible at all times.

As summer approaches the more beaches get filled with plastic waste left by vacationers. Plastic bottles harm animals on the beaches because the plastic releases toxins within the water. These toxins can be absorbed by fish affecting both human and animal health.
