All of us at one point in our life have had a fear of something, whether it’s public speaking, trying something new for the first time, or even presenting just like we're all going to be doing. I'm sure most of us will be nervous and we try our best to get rid of that feeling. Some people have Social anxiety which is known as social phobia. It is the fear of social interaction with other people and of being judged and looked down upon. It can also be a fear of embarrassment. This leads to feelings of inadequacy, self-consciousness, and depression. Social anxiety is an issue that affects many individuals as it should be taken more seriously and should not be considered as a weakness. People with social anxiety usually think that they are the only ones who suffer from it. They constantly try to work on their socialization skills. The more they keep trying, the less motivated they feel, because of what people would portray them as. These two gifs are from the series “Mr.Robot” Elliot Anderson, a hacker who has social anxiety, is trying to overcome his phobia. Along the way, he meets people who make fun of him, mimics him for the way he is, and look down upon him. He tries to work on his social anxiety, however, he starts bottling up everything people would say and soon he broke down. Which led him to feel isolated and sad. The mug represents how he slowly breaks down and tries to put himself back together. This is how people with social anxiety slowly lose confidence within themselves. Because of all the picking, they avoid going to treatments because People who do seek treatment are misdiagnosed about 90% of the time, who are often labeled as a personality disorder, manic depressive, or schizophrenic. This is because social anxiety is not well understood by the public
