The Cynical Millennial Millennials have become the topic of discussion in most recent history, and there is a debate on whether millennials are cynical. Studies show that millennials are one of the most cynical generations to walk this planet. This has been a hot topic of discussion in most recent history. Many news outlets are writing articles about the factors that are lending to this outlook. Although millennials do not want to believe it, they are cynical in some or many aspects of their lives. According to ancient cynics, Millennials cannot receive a true sense of happiness because of their cynical perspective on life and the things that life has to offer. The outlook of millennials is affected by several factors such as their unwillingness “Millennials have more friends and communicate with them more frequently using IM (instant messaging), text messaging, cell phones as well as more traditional communication channels” (millennial behaviors article). Communication is a vital part of today’s society. Everyone is texting and communicating via social media, but this type of communication adds to the cynical attitudes of millennials. Millennials tend to hide behind the keyboard to make themselves look better. Instead of facing their problems head on, they bash others on fake accounts such as “finstagram” to get a sense of validation. Electronic messaging and communication is a reason that millennials have trust issues. People are always willing to take screenshots of personal or sensitive information just to sabotage someone else or make themselves look better. People become so wrapped up in making themselves look good to their peers, that they sacrifice valuable friendships and If a millennial had everything taken away with them, would they still have their happiness? Even thought millennials are now prioritizing experiences such as concerts and festivals over tangible things, they still rely on these experiences to provide a false sense of happiness and peace. These days, it is all about the satisfaction of getting a like on instagram, a retweet on twitter, or a view on a snapchat story. People want others to know which famous artist’s concert that they went to or which designer that they bought. Cynics believed that things and power corrupt people which is evident in today’s society. Pride is a problem with the millennial generation. Every time they gain something of value or worth in their opinion, it corrupts their view about themselves. God created all of his children to be equal. No person is above or below another because God loves everyone the same. When one person thinks themselves better than another, it corrupts the vision that God has for us as His
