What is Marriage?

A marriage is the union of one man and one woman. Since lately, you have to actually say “one man” and “one woman”. Marriage is what two people do to begin a life together, with or without kids. However, this simple concept we’ve grown to embrace, believe, and repeat from generation to generation is lacking something, or so it was to me.
Marriage became a subject of interest as my husband and I were entering a covenant union, years prior to the Supreme Courts redefinition of marriage in the United States. We are previously married, thus failed marriages, and with this new beginning we wanted to do marriage the biblical way – God’s way. The majority of the articles mentioned religious marriage. In a nutshell, one argument the gay community held onto, if the Supreme Court of the United States were to redefine marriage, was that the redefinition of marriage did not interfere with religious marriages? Wait, what? What is a religious marriage?
