The Lord of the Flies was written by William Golding during 1954. In the novel, he depicts a group of children who have to live on a deserted island during the World War III. Golding argues about the civilization and raw human nature which one can be much stronger in a non-civilized island. The human’s original good and evil, human and animal, rational and irrational, civilization and barbarism and a series of changing of human nature are all show in the book. When the children first arrived the island, they know clearly that they should vote for a leader and set up rules in order to avoid massy situation happened. Simon realizes that the dread come from their mind which should be fear in stead of the unknown animals. “Fancy thinking the Beast was something you could hunt and kill! You knew, didn’t you? I’m part of you? Close, close, close!” (Golding 158). However, nobody realizes that the beast comes from themselves, so, Jack and his hunters cut the pig’s head off to make offerings to the beast. They become superstition and like hunting and violence. The end of the boy’s fall from gentle comes when Piggy is murdered by Roger deliberately and in cold blood. “High overhead, Roger, with a sense of delirious abandonment, leaned all his wight on the lever.”(Golding 200) The hunters are all become crazy. After Piggy’s death, they want to kill Ralph, too. Savage cannot stay with civilization peaceful. Ralph is the first person mention that they need a leader and set up the rules. He owned a good looks and conch——the symbol of power. However, it’s Piggy to teach him how to use the conch. He knows clearly what the powers for, instead of hunting and massacring. However, when Simon is murdered by the boys. “You were outside. Outside the circle. You never really came in. ” and “‘It was an accident,’ said Piggy suddenly, ‘that's what it was. An accident.’” (Golding 173) show that Ralph and Piggy try to convince themselves that they leave early, but they still help to kill Simon. The beast already stay with them, too. Throughout the novel, there are 3 “beasts” destroyed their nature. The strongest one is savagery. Different ideologies caused the conflicts appeared between Jack and Ralph. Ralph wants to build an society with rules and democracy, but Jack willing to establish a savagery tribe. He doesn't like rules, most of the boys are lazy and want to play without orders. After Jack becomes the leader of the boys, he asked them obeyed his order and let them indulge themselves. They dance before the storm, steal Piggy’s glasses and even kill Piggy.
