Ice cream has been around since the 13th century, maybe even before then, but the actual discovery or creation of ice cream still has yet to be answered. Since its creation, it has made its way all around the globe and has been altered by many cultures to fit their specific qualifications. There are, on the contrary, a lot of health benefits to eating ice cream. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that women who ate at least one daily serving of full-fat dairy products, such as ice cream, gained less weight than those who did not. A Harvard study published in the journal Human Reproduction suggests that consuming full-fat milk or ice cream may improve your chances of having a baby. There is no denying that ice cream is not exactly a health food. Its main ingredients are cream, milk, sugar and flavoring. That being said, ice cream does provide your body with a handful of key nutrients, including bone-strengthening calcium and phosphorus, blood-pressure-lowering potassium and energizing B vitamins. It also provides a decent amount of protein, which is important in tissue repair and cell growth. Just because something has a lot of calories and fat content, does not always mean it is completely bad for you, there is always some beneficial outcomes from them as
Everyone is looking for better and healthier life! People today pay more and more attention to the food they eat, they want it to be healthy and tasty, on the other side modern life is so dynamic and eventful, that the food must be fast. So you need to come up with something that will support all these needs. The great solution is Frozen Yogurt. It is a refreshing, savory dessert that combines the flavors and textures of ice cream and sherbet. Frozen yogurt is a new-comer in the dessert market. Nevertheless, “the history of frozen desserts dates back thousands of years to Asia where water ices were first made.’’ (wiki) Yogurt was brought to the U.S. in the early 1900s and steadily increased in popularity as a health food item over the next several decades. By the 1970s, with the popularity of ice cream technology was transferred to the production of frozen yogurt. But it’s entry into the dessert market was a distinct failure—consumers complained that it tasted too much like yogurt. Relaying on consumer demand for a sweet product that tasted like ice cream, TCBY opened its first store in 1981. The highest popularity comes to Fro-yo by the mid 1990s. But in the late 1990s as Americans turned their attention to high-protein, high-fat diets, demand for frozen yogurt slowed considerably. Low-fat foods such as frozen yogurt fell out of favor as food trends preferred higher fat and lower cost ice cream at the turn of the millennium. Trends changed back to frozen yogurt in the mid 2000s with the advent of live probiotic powder-based mixes. Over the last decade the production of frozen yogurt has grown multi-million dollar business with dozens of competing companies.
Before ice could be preserved in refrigerators, keeping ice cold was a major problem. Back in this time there wasn't good enough technology to refrigerate good enough. Before the invention of refrigerators the only way to cool objects was an insulated box filled with ice. During the time the insulated box was around it only worked for a short time.Although the insulated box also required lots of ice it cooled things very good. Ice was hard to be obtained in summer so it made it even harder to cool things(Burton 52). Before the 1830s it was not possible to manufacture ice. Before the 1830s ice had to be gathered in the winter. The ice that was gathered was stored until summer and then sold for profit. William Cotton saw an opportunity to organize a company and he did.(Burton 52) John Custer became William Cotton’s partner in 1840 in the ice business. To produce ice they made a dam for ice production in the winter. The dam had problems and collapsed which was a big problem(Burton 52). Custer abandoned Mr. Cotton in 1875. Custer left cotton all on his own. John Beard helped Custer build a dam and got partnership of the company as a reward. In 1905 Beard was basically running the whole company. Then in 1905 the companies name was changed to Beard Ice company( Burton 52). Beard now had a slogan. The slog...
Sugar is one of the most consumed commodities in the world today, and the profits of it are significant. According to Larry Schwartz (2014) “Americans consume 130 pounds of sugar every year” (Schwartz, 2014). We must be acknowledged about how it all started, to appreciate how people lived and how they struggled to provide such a commodity. Sugar was a profitable commodity in the fifteenth and sixteenth century. The cultivation of sugarcane expanded to the United States of America, which brought enslaves from Africa to work on the plantation of sugar during the 17th century. Sugar was known as the white gold for its income, which helped the U.S. to achieve independence from Great Britain. Although sugar has the worst history, it is widely used for nutritional, medical and industrial productions, and sugar manufacturing led to an industrial development and economic growth.
The idea of pasteurizing milk bagan in the 1920s, and later became an aspect of everyday life in the 1950s. Milk that has undergone this process is normally prefered since it is sterilized, therefore lowering the chance of human illness. However, it’s not the 1950s anymore, and the idea of pasteurizing milk has lost its luster for the people that now prefer raw milk. Unlike the milk that most Americans consume, raw milk has not been pasteurized, or quickly heated to a high temperature to kill harmful bacteria. In raw milk, these bacterias haven’t been removed, leaving people at risk. E. Coli, salmonella, and listeria are only some of the bacteria that raw milk carries, all of which can cause sickness, or even death. Common affects of consuming raw milk are diarrhea, stomach cramping, and vomiting, but it's the rare ones: kidney failure, paralysis, and death that causes raw milk to be illegal in half of the states and illegal to carry over state lines in its final form. Nevertheless, people still actively seek out and consume raw milk because they believe its nutritional values to be greater. Controversies surround this topic on whether organic food

What is the best food to eat at 3 in the morning? It’s obviously pizza! But what toppings should go on top of the delicious pie is the real debate. When you hear people order "pineapple on pizza," they are either salivating in anticipation or gagging in disgust. The first time I heard about Hawaiian Pizza that includes pineapple on top, I cringed. When I saw it, I cringed harder, and when I first laid the doughy flatbread on my tongue, I cringed the hardest. As someone who loves pineapple and pizza separately and an avid food enthusiast, I know pizza. I have eaten plenty of pizzas before ranging from ordinary cheese to upscale vegan pizza. Pizza should be made with care, with love, and with delectable savory toppings selected with attentiveness. It is not meant to be randomly covered by a sugary tropical fruit.
With such an obsession with sweet foods, there is an obvious desire for an explanation of how such a once unknown substance took center stage on everybody's snack, dessert, and candy list. That's where Sidney W. Mintz comes into play. He decided to write this book Sweetness and Power, and from the looks of all the sources he used to substantiate his ideas and data, it seems that he is not the first person to find the role that sugar plays in modern society important. By analyzing who Mintz's audience is meant to be, what goals he has in writing this book, what structure his book incorporates, what type, or types, of history he represents within the book, what kind of sources he uses, and what important information and conclusions he presents, we can come to better understand Mintz's views and research of the role of sugar in history, and how much it really affects our lives as we know them.
Ice structuring proteins are natural products that form part of a normal diet through their occurrence at high concentration in fish and vegetables. Their diversity and various activities show that the proteins are intriguing parts for use in preserving the quality of foods during chilling frozen storage. Large ice crystals destroy the texture and taste of ice cream. So, use of ice structuring protein is suggested as natural ice crystal growth inhibitor in such products. However, selection of ice structuring protein is based on its easy availability, its changes in certain chemical properties during processing of products, its taste and its related impact on food and food properties, safety and cost.
Staying in touch with their customers would not enable Ben and Jerry to be as successful as they have become if their ice cream was not high quality as well. The second value the company espouses is to use only wholesome, natural ingredients. They began their operation on this premise, utilizing fresh Vermont milk and cream to create their frozen concoctions. During a period of volatility in the dairy market in 1991, the company went so far as to pay a dairy premium totaling a half million dollars to combat Vermont dairy farmers’ losses. This helped protect the family farmers who supplied the milk for Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.

“The smoothie is a drink made from fruit and / or vegetables, which can be embellished with various ingredients (honey, milk, aromatic herbs, etc.). Originally from England, its texture is thicker than a juice, more liquid than a puree less iced than a sorbet. In addition, the limits of a smoothie’s composition are those of the imagination.”
“Healthy eating” means eating a variety of foods that gives you the nutrients you need to maintain your health, feeling good with your health conditions, and having enough energy throughout the day (Nordqvist). A poor diet can cause harm a person’s daily life activities. So, eating fast foods may be more convenient for them knowing that the prices are way less. However, everyone should make the effort to stop eating foods that will later on harm your health.
