July 6th, 2016, a violent attack was committed by a lone gunman in Dallas, Texas. At the

conclusion of the incident, 5 Officers lay dead, and more questions than answers were left. This

shooting evoked emotions from civilians and law enforcement alike. Sitting in my room that

night, I felt horrible for those families who were not going to see their loved ones after shift as

usual. The next morning I woke to find so many asking the question, "What can we do?" Dallas

Chief of Police David Brown gave an answer that struck me as a genius answer, "If you want to

see a change in your community, be that change".

According to a study done by the Pew Charitable Trust Organization, One in 31 adults in

These issues also contribute to higher arrest and conviction rates among minorities as it relates to

crime and punishment. Those who work in the criminal justice field should be doing everything

in our power to ensure every human being is treated fairly and just. Criminal Justice policies

should do minimal damage to families, while also ensuring that effort is being made
