Is Hunting a Sport?
You are walking in the forest bending down here and there eating the grass, then out of nowhere ¨bam!¨. There is a sharp, intense pain in your side as you fall on the ground like a sack of potatoes, and with your final moments you hear, ¨Woo hoo! I nailed one!¨. Then you fall into a deep eternal slumber.In this situation you are the deer, and the cheering men are your hunters, the people that have been tracking you down for days, maybe even weeks now. Many people believe it is not a sport… but i say otherwise. Just because hunting doesn’t have a ball doesn’t mean it’s not a sport, it has all of the same aspects of any other sport. These aspects are smarts, strength, skill, and objective or goal, and a competition mindset. You need the smarts to find and follow animal tracks and trails, the strength to hold up a gun for hours waiting for your prey, skill to know how to fire a gun or let loose an arrow correctly and accurately, the objective and goal is to bag an elk, and the competition mindset is wanting to bring …show more content…

It is very popular here in the United States but it is also very popular in places such as Russia, Australia, and Japan. It may not be as popular as hunting deer, but fishing can also be categorized as hunting. Fishing is a sport and a way of life all around the world. There are also many different methods of fishing just like with hunting deer, you are able to do it in the woods or a ranch. For hunting in the woods you can use a shotgun, a rifle, or a bow and arrow. Fishing you can just put the line in the water and wait ‘till something bites, drop it in, wait a few seconds to pull it out then hurl it out as far as you can, or you can fly fish, where your hands and the line barely skip over the water and never stop moving. It is done all over the world and has different methods and techniques, is that not what every other sport
