This question has been the topic for debate for a long time. In the United States right now the legal driving age is 16-17 years old. The driving age should be increased because teens are not responsible and mature enough to handle the responsibility of driving. Teens that start driving make bad decisions that might lead to injuries their brains aren't fully developed. In the article “Is 16 Too Young To Drive?”, the author says “ the youngest drivers licensed in most states, are too immature to handle today's cars and roadway risks.”(Davis, Article 1) Today's cars might be too complex to a teen that's beginning to drive. The article also says that most 16 year olds get in more accidents than experienced adults. Teens are not mature enough to drive, and there will always be that rebellious side of teens. While driving you must be aware of yourself and other drivers. Young drivers often don’t think of the consequences of texting and driving, going over the speed limit, or drinking before driving. Teens think irrationally, they believe nothing will happen to them if they break these rules. For example, in the article, “Is 16 Too Young To Drive a Car?” The author makes a good point by saying, “Instead, most fatal crashes with 16-year-old drivers (77%) involved driver errors, especially the kind most common among novices.
