A loyal sports knows there is not better feeling than the experience of watching their favorite team play the big game in their home stadium. The hype and excitement of thousands of fans standing and cheering together. The souvenir ticket stub that shows you were there live. There is no better feeling than being at the game. However, some sports fans feel that watching their favorite team from their home television is a better experience, because they are comfortable and not distracted. This argument sets the stage for a good debate, are sporting events better live, or on television? Many sports fans believe watching sporting events live is almost always a more satisfying experience than watching on television (Caple, 2009). Whether the fan decides to go to the stadium or watch the game from home, their decision is influenced by primarily three things: information, experience, and technology. This essay will evaluate how fans use information, experience, and technology to determine if sporting games are enjoyed better live, or on television.

Fans need information such as the score, what is happening with each play, and ultimately who won the game. However, the process of gaining information can sometimes be a challenge. When fans choose to go to the stadium to watch the game, information such as the score, time remaining, and stats are displayed on a jumbotron for all to view.
