Writer James Joyce tells a scenario of his thoughts like he discussed about the most silent street of North Richmond as it remains silent throughout the day except the hour when boys are set free from school. He tells about the double-storey house where a Priest an old tenant lives and died in a back drawing room. He sketches about the house as it was full of mess, dust and air packed with huge rooms. There was curved and damp pages that were placed in the room.
He said that in short days of winter after we all had our dinners, the house gets more sorrowful as we all get into the streets and there we echoed the streets with our voices and how they hide themselves when his uncle arrives and when Mangan’s ( sister of one of the boys) and he just focused herself when she comes to call her brother for tea …show more content…

2. How does Joyce use religious imagery in “Araby” ?
Joyce use Christianity as the religious imagery because he uses the concept of darkness and lights as that we can take this as imagery concept. He also uses a word of shadow which can be taken as imagery where when the boy talks about the sister of one of his fellow boy than we can say that will be the religious imagery.
3. How is “ Araby” a knightly quest ? what is ironic about this quest ?
As we have learn that writer talks about the bazaar of Araby where he reaches late as because his uncle forgets so he tells that few people left there and some stalls were open at that time and he said that big part of the hall wa sin darkness, so that could be ironic.
4. How is “Araby” a portrait of an artist as a young man ?
As we have seen about the writer perception for the fellow sister, he looks like a spiritual man with modern thoughts and intellectual , moral as a young man catholic.
