“A lot of doctors and other mental health professionals just throw up their arms, and other mental health professionals just throw up their arms, and say, “What’s the point of even identifying antisocial personality disorder? What are we gonna do with these people?” said Donald W. Black, M.D, a professor of psychiatry. According to Wikipedia, Antisocial personality disorder is characterized by a pervasive pattern of disregard for, or violation of, the rights of others. People with Antisocial Personality Disorder vary from serial killers, murders, thefts, and rapists. Thus making Antisocial personality disorder one of the most feared disorder.

This disorder gives people many heartless traits. People with this disorder do not care about hurting other peoples feeling and when they do care about feelings their main priority is looking after themselves. They lie and cheat to get things they want. They lie repeatedly, many cannot keep a job, absent frequently and are likely to quit their jobs altogether. Their negligence for laws and rules leads to them getting arrested. Sometimes described as psychopaths (The Joker) or sociopaths. This disorder is the most closely linked to adult criminal behavior. In order to receive this diagnosis the person has to be eighteen years of age. Some people with ASPD showed some pattern of misbehavior before they were fifteen. Many patients do not voluntarily ask for treatment. Most of the time the court makes them and those who do seek medical attention do it in order to find relief from emotional distress. Some treatments for ASPD is when those with the disorder are put in facilities where they are under supervision so they can’t cause harm or hurt to others. As their behavior improves the more freedom they are granted. Although, their behavior improves in these facilities they are more likely to turn back to their old ways because they have no one to help them from right and wrong. Another treatment used is the patient meeting with a therapist. Sadly this treatment isn’t very effective either because of the patients state of mind (Looking after themselves by any means). Their manipulation of others comes up in all types of situations. Even when people are trying to help them.
