Anne Frank, author of Anne Frank A Diary of A Young Girl, had a very short life. Her childhood was filled with joy and happiness, until the Nazis rose to power. Anne’s life as a child wasn’t as bad as many others at the time. Anne was born on July 12, 1929, in Frankfurt, Germany. Anne was a Reform Jew, which meant she did not strictly follow all Jewish beliefs. Anne and her family were upper-middle class citizens. Her father, Otto Frank (also known as Pim by Anne) was a lieutenant in the German Army. Anne moved a lot as a child, but she still managed to have a lot of friends. Not all of Anne’s friends were Jewish either. Anne got her diary on her 12th birthday, June 12, 1942. She named her diary Kitty and says that Kitty is her best friend who she can and will tell everything to. …show more content…

While Anne was living the Secret Annex she matured greatly. She was always the one being yelled at for being immature and outspoken. Because of this Mrs. Van Daan, a family friend who lived with the Franks in the Secret Annex, and Mr. Dussel, another friend of the family who lived in the Secret Annex, always said that Anne was raised wrong and disliked Anne as Anne did them. Anne also didn’t get along with her mother, Edith Frank. They fought and disagreed with each other. The building where the Annex was hidden was robbed twice. Though neither of the robbers found the Secret Annex, valuable supplies were stolen. Anne often felt depressed during this time, she was lonely and felt as everyone was against her. She didn’t openly share these thoughts with anyone other than Kitty. Despite this Anne had a growing relationship with Peter Van Daan. The first year and a half Anne saw him as shy, lazy, and awkward. She then developed a crush on him. She went as far to write a letter to Otto saying he can’t do anything to stop
