On 06/09/17, at 5:19pm, I Deputy Warden N. Christian was patrolling the area of Karl Road and Huy Road, when I saw a black/brown Siberian Husky running loose in the middle of the intersection. I pulled over, took a picture of the dog loose and exited my vehicle. At this time dog owner Derek Scherbarth arrived at the location. I helped Mr. Scherbarth capture his Siberian Husky name Rocky. Mr. Scherbarth put Rocky in his vehicle. I asked Mr. Scherbarth if his dog was current on dog license and vaccinations. He stated Rocky was current on vaccinations but not on dog license. I asked to see Mr. Scherbarth identification, he complied. I issued Mr. Scherbarth violations for failure to license and failure to control Rocky. I cleared from the
Petitioner David Leon Riley was originally stopped for a traffic violation. The registration tags on the car that Riley was driving were currently expired. During the traffic stop the police officer also learned that Riley’s driver license was suspended. Police policy required the police officer to impound the vehicle because Riley’s license was suspended. Continuing to follow police policy a second police officer performed an inventory search of Riley’s car. The search led to Riley’s arrest for possession of two loaded handguns that were found under the hood of the car. The officer also proceeded to seize Riley’s cell phone which was located in his pocket. About two hours after the arrest a gang unit detective analyzed the content on Riley’s cell phone. As a result, Riley was tied to a shooting that had occurred several weeks early. In relation to the shooting Riley was charged with firing at an occupied vehicle, attempted murder, and assault with
When you make the choice to adopt a pet from the humane society you are providing that animal with a better quality of life.
On 04/14/18, at approximately 1:30pm, I Deputy Warden N. Christian with Franklin County Animal Care and Control (FCACC) was dispatched to 235 N. 18th St on a nuisance dog investigation (dog owner's address). I arrived on scene at approximately 1:56pm. I met with victim Robert White. Mr. White stated he was walking in the alley behind 200 Block of Monroe Ave. A white male had a black dog approximately 6 feet away from him. As he continue to walked through the alley, the dog tried to attack him. Mr. White stated the dog was on a "retractable leash" but Mr. White noticed that the dog owner had extended the leash to the point that the dog was close enought to Mr. White. Mr. White stated he move to the opposite side of dog owner, and words

A few days ago, while walking my dog, I decided to run with him but with the leash in my hand, so that way he could be free to stop and sniff wherever he wanted. This experience was very good for the dog because he was not tied to the limits that I provided, but he was always by my side running. A couple of minutes after being “free” a policeman showed up. To my surprise he was upset with me and said that having a dog without control was a big misdemeanor. Then, he proceed to take my information and gave me a citation to the Municipal Court of The Colony, while my dog was still trying to sniff around, like nothing different was happening. Afterwards, I looked for places or parks that were dog-friendly in order to take my dog, and that wa...
The sun dried grass crunched under David’s feet as he reached the mailbox, sweat plastering his golden hair to his forehead. The rural landscape of Shark Bay is bone dry; the lingering heat wave serving as a slap in the face with the wind blowing what is left of his fields into whirlwinds of dirt. His was once a land of luscious green landscape, the soft air turned branches into wind chimes as the trees swayed. These same trees have been bleached by the heat ridden gusts carving tortured sculpture in their trunks. Some might now see this world as one of desolate wasteland but David grew up with the land, this land was a living, growing friend that he knew, loved, and cared for as much as he did his wife and children.
Most of modern societies nowadays have laws protecting animal rights; however, there are countries where animal rights do not exist or are protected. Cape Verde and many other third world countries, do not have any laws that protect animals rights. Cape Verde is an under development country, composed by ten islands, situated in the west coast of Africa. Majority of its territory is rural, and its citizens treat animals more as a property than anything else. I was born and lived in Cape Verde, as a child I was not very social, and my parents were always at work; in order, to solve the lonely and antisocial problem, my dad gave me my first dog, she was my best friend for
Attention getter: Lion, tigers, and bears, oh my! When the circus comes rolling into town, many people are excited to go and that is all that is talked about; about the clowns, the trapeze artists, the ring leader, the elephants and all the other marvelous wonders of the circus. But would you all still be excited to go if you knew the truth about the circus and the animal trainers of how they treat the animals? Because in reality, for our spirits to raise at the circus, they break the spirits of all the animals, especially the elephants.
Those sad words sum up the cruelty of animal testing. Have any of us ever given a thought to these animals, of what exactly happened in testing labs? Well here it is. Animals are trapped cages, strapped onto tables, deliberately shocked, poisoned, burned, starved, drowned, brain damaged and ultimately die, all so we could live a little bit easier. But guess what? It doesn’t have to be this way – because these methods don’t even work. The reason is simple – animals just aren’t humans, their bodies just doesn’t work the same way as ours do. A majority of human diseases (98% in fact) don’t affect animals and 92% of drugs passed by animal tests immediately fail when first tried on humans because they’re useless, dangerous or both. There are better alternatives out there – alternatives such as cells and tissue cultures that are both humane and more efficient.

Over 2 million animals are killed every year, almost all of these animals had never felt the embrace of a loving person. Animal rights are very conservational because some people think animals are things, they do not see them as living beings, and just see them as if they are just something that can be replaced. Everything done to animals have emotional effects on them and they are not things that just do not feel pain. Animals should have similar rights as humans because animals feel pain just as much as humans do, have emotions just as humans, and they have things that humans have.
Our case is that if we don’t test on animals then progress in scientific fields would be halted. As first speaker for the negative I will speak about the benefits of animal testing in general and then I’ll talk in detail about animal testing in medicine. My second speaker will talk about the opinions on testing and the food chain and my third speaker will summarise our points and rebut.
Animal abuse for pets can range from neglecting to take care of the animal to the actual deliberate abuse of the animal such as beating, shooting, stabbing, or lighting the animal on fire.
I will argue that it is a better option for humans to not accept the doctrine of Animal Rights, and I will offer three reasons to support this claim. Firstly, Animal Rights can be limiting to the advancement of human health. Secondly, there are alternatives to accepting the Animal Rights. Finally, Animal Rights does not support animal control, which is important for sustaining the ecosystem. The second point will be discussed as an extension of the first point.
Public Awareness of Animal Rights Animal rights encompass a large range of scenarios such as medical testing, use in entertainment such as zoos or circuses, and abusive or negligent owners. This essay will present a thesis on how public awareness can affect animal rights in a very real and meaningful way. History of Animal Rights Before discussion of public awareness and sensitivity vis-à-vis animal rights, it is prudent to provide a concise history of the topic in America. In 1866, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was formed. Some of the early triumphs associated with the organization are lobbying for the passing of anti-cruelty laws for animals used in gambling, such as bull and cock fights as well as horse beating (“American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals”).
