The Cry for Freedom In the book Animal Farm by George Orwell, the animals struggle and fight for freedom, throughout the novel mentally and physically. Orwell describes the Battle of Cowshed in chapter four as “There was not an animal on the farm that did not take vengeance on them after his own fashion...Snowball made a little speech, emphasise the need for all animals to be ready to die for Animal Farm if need to be”(Orwell 42-44). The animals all fight together physically to prevent Jones and the other farmers from taking over the farm and to keep their freedom. After the Battle of Cowshed Snowball signifies that every animal is expected to die for Animal Farm if needed, this shows the determination

    Animal Farm portrays many facets of the Communist revolution in Russia; however the book and the movie are both set on a farm in England in the 1950‘s. The book starts with Old Major, the founder of animalism, explaining how the animal rebellion would be coming soon and everyone should be preparing for the revolution. According to the book he died of old age but in the movie he was hit by a bullet from Mr. Jones’s shotgun causing Old Major to fall out of the hay loft and break his neck. Later Napoleon and Snowball come to prepare the animals for the coming revolution. Jones was a drunk and his workers did not always feed the animals regularly so one night Jones to the men out for drinks and they did not return for three days, and when he did return he still did not feed the animals. The animals took it upon themselves to break into the food storage and feed themselves and they were happy until Jones heard the noise they were making and went in there to see what was going on and when he tried to stop them they all attack him at once and chased him and his men of the property and then it was all theirs. Snowball started right away showing them the ways of animalism and stating that they were rules to live by. By using farm animals, George Orwell shows how an oppressive government can prove to be disastrous and also confining. While the book was originally regarded as a book that parallels the effects of communism, in more recent times the book has also shown to parallel the happenings occurring in what is known as the Arab Spring. It is in these countries where the people have grown overly frustrated and angry at their governments that treat them unfairly.     Firstly, perhaps no book has linked animals to human counterparts better than Animal Farm. Orwell's beasts serve as a representation of important characters of the World War II era and beyond. For example, Karl Marx, the inventor of the communist movement, was represented by Old Major, the most important animal on the farm until his death. Much like Old Major, Marx was a visionary who dreamed of equality. Old Major states:"Is it not crystal clear, then, comrades, that all the evils of this life of ours spring from the tyranny of human beings? Snowball displaying similar traits with Trotsky in the fact that they both fight bravely in their respective battles. Trotsky was an important component to the victory in the Russian civil war, Snowball displaying this bravery during the battle of the cowshed. The hens, geese, and sheep that are executed are a representation of the millions who opposed Stalin's, and who are killed banished as a result. The hens and geese are not known for their docile natures, and serve as perfect rebels .     It was the glorious speech from Old Major that made the animals want to rebel so badly. Animal Farm, written by George Orwell is an excellent novel that portrays the need for power. This positive aspect of evaluation and argumentation is however quickly changed into a less sound manifestation of correspondence: Snowball neglects to give certain significant facts ("How these were produced Snowball did not say."( AF 33) and Napoleon even takes it further: he clearly menaces the farm animals. In spite of the fact that he never really connects these menaces to disciplines, Napoleon deliberately tries to terrify the animals rather than disputing with them. Again when all the animals get lost in the groups, nobody ever remembers what Old Major announced or to read the Seven Commandments over again. Just Benjamin, paradoxically a donkey, sees through the political game and rejects to pick sides. The whole way across the farm, he is the only animal who thinks about the utility of this fight seriously and criticizes the entire situation. In this way he seems like Orwell himself, being “isolated observer going around and seeing for himself” (Williams.1971.49).
