Drastic Changes To Pop Art "They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself." - Andy Warhol, was born Andrew Warhola and he did in fact change the times in the second half of the 20th Century. Andy Warhol, a leader of the pop art movement, is considered one of the most important American artists. Helping shape American media and popular culture through artwork based on images taken from pop culture. Some of his most famous images include consumer products such as Campbell’s Soup Can, Green Coke Bottles, Brillo Soap Pads Box and Chanel 354. He then added variations of color to create a different look for print. His artwork tells the story of the 20th century through pictures of celebrities and popular artworks. The Soup can works appeared in different sizes, different colors, different contexts and even a combination of Elvis Presley and a soup can. Warhol also did a few paintings with 100 and more Campbell’s soup cans arranged into a grid. He made as many Campbell’s soup can paintings as he made pop star paintings. Warhol 's original 32 paintings of Campbell’s canned soup played a major role in defining his artistic career. Though if it wasn’t for the Campbell’s Soup Cans, Andy Warhol might have been nothing more than a footnote. Apart from helping him get his first solo exhibition the Campbell’s Soup Cans painted the way of Warhol’s future work. Green Coke Bottles, Andy Warhol, 1962 was first made with oil on canvas and the dimensions are 209.6 cm × 144.8 cm (82.5 in × 57.0 in). Warhol enjoyed the mind-numbing non-selective mass-produced imagery promoted by media advertising. In his book The Philosophy of Any Warhol (1975), he said that what he liked about America was that its richest consumers buy many of the same items as the poorest.
