Ancient Egypt Located in Northern Africa, ancient Egypt was a captivating and intricate civilization. Over the years, historians have found it easier to study this civilization, rather than other historical civilizations, because the Egyptians went through great lengths to record their history with the use of hieroglyphics. Besides being decent record keepers, they were very religious, and “ahead of their time,” due to their technological and architectural breakthroughs. Pyramids were made, tools were created, and paper was invented. Because of the aspects of this culture, it has to be one of the greatest civilizations of the world. Egyptian Society In the Egyptian society women had the same rights, both legal and economic, as the men in their society. They could both work the same job and earn the same regardless of sex. Each member of the relationship maintained and respected the ownership of what was brought into the marriage. It is not known why these rights existed for women, especially during this time period. Women could even become pharaoh. Nowhere else in the ancient world did something like this exist. The women bore and raised the children. They were basically responsible for all of the more usual or domestic related relationships, while the men taught their growing boys about the world and their own trade. Men in ancient Egypt were often expected to form a life for themselves before going out to find a wife. The males would rarely be able to choose their own careers. It was more common for the men to receive the job their father had when they reached working age. The Egyptian society was also matrilineal. This meant that the property was passed down through the female line. Sun temples were also built near the pyramid of the pharaoh that it represented. These temples contained private table and tombs because of this, pharaohs and gods were the only ones able to enter. The rulers were very Darwinian when it came to building their tombs. They all wanted something that was more magnificent and more breathtaking than the tombs of the rulers before them. In order to get these immaculate structures done, some people would spend their whole entire lives working on them. In conclusion, Ancient Egypt was a magnificent civilization that contributed to the world’s history with the pyramids, their religious beliefs, and the invention of paper. Because of the aspects of this culture, it has to be one of the greatest civilizations of the world.
