Today I will discuss the immune system and what makes it so important and vital for our everyday well-being and defending our body against sickness and disease.. First off, what is the immune system? Vaccines.gov informs readers that, “The immune system is a network of cells, tissues, and organs that work together to defend the body against attacks by “foreign” invaders. These are primarily microbes—tiny organisms such as bacteria, parasites, and fungi that can cause infections.” Why are these important to us as humans? Without our immune system life as we know it would be at a standstill and life would not exist. Let’s begin with an overall view of the organs of the immune system and how it interacts with our body. Cells and tissues are a key factor in our line of defense against parasites and bacteria, virueses, etc. but these organs listed below are all important organs in defense of our immune system. As you can see on the diagram, many organs play a key role in the defense of our body but do we know what these organs all do? Starting head to toe I will walk you through the purpose of each and how they work with the immune system .
