After completing this activity and analyzing all the clues it was clear to me who the murderer is. Patrick Murray or “Pat the Rat” killed Robert Hughes, and here is the evidence to support this claim. The most compelling evidence from the place of entry is the footprint impression left at the scene. From the impression Doc could tell us that the shoe was a men’s size 11 “Doc Martin” boot. He was also able to tell that the suspect drags his feet when he walks. Pat the Rat wears a size 11, but a pair of boots were never found at his home. From the place of struggle 2 sets of fingerprints were found. The first set belonged to the victim and the second set belonged to Pat the Rat. His fingerprints were already in the system from previous convictions
We were presented with many facts that all pointed to Mr. Washburn as the murder. In the house all of the entrances were thoroughly inspected by authorities, and they found no sign of ransacking. “[They] examined all the locking mechanisms, all the doors and windows. In [their] opinion there was no evidence of any forced entry” (P.81). When police looked for fingerprints, “They were all of the Washburn family and the maid” (P.81). There was no trace of an outside party; somebody usually in the Washburn house committed the murder. While in the living room, an officer found a drop of blood. The evidence technician was called the next night to run some tests. “He sprayed the living room carpet with luminol. It is a luminous spray, and when it comes in contact with blood it illuminates” (P.82). To both men’s surprise the whole living room was illuminating. After spraying further the men found a trail from the living room through the kitchen to the garage. In the closet the men found a wet mop, which was tested for blood and also came back positive. Somebody tried to clean his or her bloody mess, and try to save himself. The physical evidence proves the killer was somebody who was familiar to the Washburn household.

In the Forensic Case #356228, skeletal remains of both human and animal were discovered in a hunting area. The skeletal remains were of potential victims named as either Robert Rutherford or Stephen Morton. The Case of Robert Pickton is a long one, that may have started in 1978 when he was in his early 20’s. His involvement in the case of the disappearing women was only noticed after 1997 when Geographic forensics Dr. Kim Rossemo and the RCMP said there must be a serial killer in the Vancouver area. Pickton owned and lived on a pig farm in Vancouver British Columbia, with his brother David Pickton. They were known for their parties at the Piggie palace; which were large, dirty and filled with prostitutes and drugs. R. Pickton was a frequent around skid row and was known as a “good date”; he provided good money and drugs to prostitutes. When police showed prostitutes his picture in early 1999, they wouldn’t admit to knowing because of this. However, many prostitutes were scared of him. It was known that a fellow ‘prostitute’ and friend of Pickton’s Lynn Ellingsen was helping him get prostitutes who didn’t trust him out to the farm after the 1997 attack on Sandra Ringwald. The police received a tip in 1998 after over 15 women disappeared, but ignored it. The VPD then created Project Amelia to help find the women who disappeared, but it was a joke. When in jail before the trials, Pickton confessed to have killed 49 women to an undercover police officer and over 26 plus different women's DNA was found on what authorities had deemed his death farm. To hide the bodies, Pickton used a grinder to destroy the bodies and fed the women to his pigs and guests. Due to systematic and fundamental errors of the police, Robert Pickton managed to murder of over 26 female sex trade workers in seven years. In Mary Oliver’s poem “The Black Snake,” the narrator contemplates the cycle of life with the unpredictability of death. In the poem, The Black Snake, the narrator witnesses a black snake hit by a truck and killed on a road one morning.
