This paper is about Erik Erikson’s eight stages of developmental theories and how it compares to my life up until this point at the age I am now, in my opinion the theories of Trust versus Mistrust, Autonomy versus Shame and Doubt, and Identity versus Role Confusion are the most important stages of development that a person can go through. These stages are the foundation of how that child is going to grow up and who they are going to be in the future. In this paper, I am going to do my best trying to compare events in my life to the theories and see how they relate. Identity versus role confusion is development that depends primarily upon what the child does and doesn't do. At this age children are struggling to find their own identity and role in life, while trying to survive social interactions with adults and other kids their age. Between the age of twelve to eighteen is a confusing time, because they are going through physical, mental, and emotional changes. Everyone goes through these changes differently and it affects their personality based on how they feel. Struggling to finds one’s identity has its trials and errors that helps show the person who they truly are and it helps them identify the kind of people they want to be associated with.
