The Bachelor originally debuted in 2002. Spanning over fourteen years the show has produced roughly thirty seasons and three spin off shows. Through this extended period The Bachelor has become a leading reality television show. The Bachelor can be categorized as a romance reality television show. The most recent season of The Bachelor starring Ben Higgins was no different. In fact this most recent season was the single handedly the best season of the show ever produced. Ben’s season had the perfect amount of plot twists, honesty, lavish dates and the most sincere element of relatability that the show has ever seen. One of the factors that sets The Bachelor apart from other reality love televisions shows is the lavish dates. A perfect example can be seen during week three with Ben and Lauren B. For Ben and Lauren’s one on one date, they were initially picked up from the bachelor mansion by a private airplane. After going on a personalized air tour, they were dropped off in the middle of a remote field that miraculously had a hot tub in the middle. Then the date was followed up by a romantic dinner for two. That’s not all, on top of it all the night was finished off by a private concert. Where the couple could be seen dancing and singing. These are the kind of dates that are typical to the show. This is not out of the ordinary for The Bachelor contestants to be showered with dates that the average girl would die to go on. This sense of extreme extravagant life style resonates with the audience. It makes the viewers dream of one day being swept off their feet with a perfect date, just as the show presents. It is also extremely aesthetically pleasing. The dates are tailored to allow women to flawlessly visualize what the perfect date entails. The Bachelor in specific highlights our love of the idea of love. Love is something that people are constantly searching for. People can relate and bond over past loves and even how those loves ended. Although, The Bachelor is no cinematic masterpiece is portrays the honest urges people feel to find people to share their lives with. This show has been deemed as women’s continual acceptance of the male dominated patriarchy, however according to an article published by Elle, all women including feminist show watch the bachelor.
