Through this extended period The Bachelor has become a leading reality television show. The Bachelor can be categorized as a romance reality television show. The most recent season of The Bachelor starring Ben Higgins was no different. In fact this most recent season was the single handedly the best season of the show ever produced. One of the factors that sets The Bachelor apart from other reality love televisions shows is the lavish dates. A perfect example can be seen during week three with Ben and Lauren B. For Ben and Lauren’s one on one date, they were initially picked up from the bachelor mansion by a private airplane. After going on a personalized air tour, they were dropped off in the middle of a remote field that miraculously had a hot tub in the middle. Then the date was followed up by a romantic dinner for two. That’s not all, on top of it all the night was finished off by a private concert. Where the couple could be seen dancing and singing. These are the kind of dates that are typical to the show. This is not out of the ordinary for The Bachelor contestants to be showered with dates that the average girl would die to go on. This sense of extreme extravagant life style resonates with the audience. It makes the viewers dream of one day being swept off their feet with a perfect date, just as the show presents. The story is about her quiet street becoming unusually busy with police officers, and how the man who is being chased by these officers ends up being outside her front door. Through the point of view of the story, the characterization and character change of Carolee Mitchell, and the setting of the story, A Television Drama is an exciting read. The story conveys how important it is to be aware of ones surroundings, and what is happening around oneself through these elements.

Different Strokes a comedy sitcom, first aired in 1978, and lasted until 1986. This sitcom consisted of a widowed Manhattan millionaire, Phillip Drummond , who adopted two orphaned brothers. Arnold who was 8 years old and Willis who was 12. The boys' mother was Drummonds housekeeper who became very ill, so Drummond made a promise to her that he would take care of her two sons after she passed away. Drummond treated the two boys like his own. He also lived with his daughter, Kimberly, who was 13 years old, and his current housekeeper. This sitcom showed typical life lessons in growing up, and social problems that were occurring during that time. Some of the aspects of this show were both positive and negative.
“Modern Family” is a mockumentary style sitcom that premiered in 2009 on ABC which has become one of the nation’s most popular television shows. It depicts the daily life of three families, a nuclear family consisting of a mother, father, and their three kids, a homosexual couple and their adopted daughter, and a mixed family with a stepson. As if that weren’t enough the three families are also related making it all one big multigenerational family. During its release producers and network executives were weary of the sitcom’s success due to the vast representations of family and how Americans would take to such representations. There was particular concern over the role of the homosexual couple and how the public would react to such an open relationship between the two men, Cameron and Mitchell. Concerns over these issues were quickly dissolved as ratings soared. Today depictions of LGBT characters in such shows including “Modern Family” and other forms of media have made viewers more comfortable with same sex relationships. In 2013 the sitcom was renewed for its fifth season indicating a huge cultural shift in how the country accepts nontraditional relationships and allows such representations of family into their homes.

Since the couples are very different, the contradicting romantic and enlightened characteristics of each cause the couple to fit really well together. Each of the couples offset each other in a very good way. For example Phil and Claire are a very good couple because ones more of a dreamer and the other is more of a thinker. This causes for good parenting because the children have two different types of people to look up to and the children can have a balance between the two characteristics. Also the relationship works well since it doesn’t cause them to be bored of each other since they are very different people. Seeing that all these factors play into the show as a whole, it causes the show to be both entertaining, relatable, and appeals to a wide range of viewers.
Relationship Between Soap Operas and Reality TV Dating Shows Tania Modleski’s “The Search for Tomorrow in Today’s Soap Operas” proposes that the unique appeal and function of soap opera lies in (a) the viewer’s ability to inhabit the text’s prescribed spectatorial position of ‘the good mother’, and (b) using the archetypal ‘villainess’ to displace one’s own repressed anger and powerlessness. It can be argued, using Modleski’s analytical perspectives on the interpellated spectatorial positions of soap operas, that a new genre of television programs (namely the reality dating shows) function in a similar way. An examination of Modleski’s thesis renders these statements more likely. Modleski argues that soap operas are essential in understanding women’s role in culture.

Another theme seen all over today is the fighting between two men or woman for the love of a woman or man. So many television episodes have been designated for this theme because of its popularity with the media. Jerry Springer is just one example. So many people enjoy this show because of the violence that is shown when two people are fighting, especially two girls for one man. I think it's rather stupid though because there are plenty other men or women in this world that one could desire.
