Reviewing 'Nights of Ephemeral Love': A Theatrical Examination

The Tallahassee Hispanic Theatre presented Nights of Ephemeral Love written by Paloma Pedro on June 10, 2016 at the Augusta Conradi Studio Theatre in Tallahassee, Fl. The play is exactly what it says, a night of ephemeral love. The production consisted of three one act plays, each play representing a relationship that involved love and attraction. The seven talented cast members performed the show hilariously making each moment full of laughter and drama. Primarily, the overall environment of the play was welcoming. The Augusta Conradi Studio Theatre building was relatively small and no more than a hundred ninety seats. The stage arrangement was a classic stage setup. The stage was presented on a proscenium stage with stairs and ramps on both sides. The atmosphere of the building was fine and felt like a theatre should have. The theater was also clean and well-polished. The ceilings were high however the temperature inside the building was a little hot. Since the theater was rather small the stage felt more like a school play rather than a big play production but that soon changed as the actors stepped on the stage. The three one act plays, were all interesting and told about a different story of connection and love when first meeting someone or long term relationships. They both are waiting for the subway when suddenly the lights began to flicker which makes the play suspenseful but as soon as they began to talk, drama and drama and a bit of comedy is presented. The character of Carmen was way more dramatic because she played as an anxious and nervous business woman while Jose was a man who recently lost his job and walked the streets of New York.
