It is 2015, and the US Supreme Court has recently ruled that on June 29, 2015 the US Constitution guarantees the right for same-sex marriage in all 50 US states. Citizens across the US, (homosexual and heterosexual) were ecstatic! After years of protesting, marching, and being killed for their sexual preference, there has finally been a law passed to make any type of love legal. But the question still remains, does legalizing same-sex marriage end the sexual discrimination many homosexuals face daily? In 1906, “Imre: A Memorandum”, a novel written by author, Edward Prime-Stevenson was the first English- language novel that did not belong to a specific genre openly dealing with the positive outlooks on homosexual passions. Studies have shown that homosexuals receive lower wages than their heterosexual coworkers. However, wage differences between homosexuals and their heterosexual colleges cannot be taken as proof of labor discrimination. In attempt to overcome difficulties in measuring discrimination, some researchers have set their own studies on labor market experiments to test for its existence. In these experiments, they find that homosexual males experience discrimination more in male-dominated work places, and lesbians in female workplaces. In “Etiology of Homosexuality and Attitudes toward Same-Sex Parenting: A Randomized Study’, an article written by Dolores Frias-Navarro, he discusses their study which was to find out views on homosexual sexual orientation and if it produces more or less of a rejection of homosexual parenting and whether they affect opinions about social rights of individuals with a homosexual sexual orientation. The dictionary definition of Etiology is “the investigation or attribution of the cause or reason for something, often expressed in terms of historical or mythical explanation. In the study, they used one hundred and ninety Spanish students from The University of Valencia in the psychology degree program. They asked questions such as: their opinions about the right of individuals with a homosexual sexual orientation, their beliefs on the etiology of sexual orientation, and their beliefs about children’s adjustment in same-sex homes. The outcome of the survey showed that “normality” can be assumed for each of the questions.
