One thing that both texts have in common are that they are both about slaves escaping to freedom. Another thing both texts do very well is portray the fear and misery the people face.The texts also give examples of what holds the slaves from escaping, such as the sounds of the furious hoofbeats, which freeze the slaves, regardless of what they are doing.
