The psychoanalytic theory, Sigmund Freud is considered to be the founder of the psychodynamic approach psychology which looks closely at the unconscious drives that motivates an individual to act certain ways. In Sigmund Freud’s Creative Writers and Day-Dreaming he analyzes connections between literature and psychoanalysis. Montresor feels that his honor has been tarnished by Fortunato’s insults so he plots the ultimate revenge. Montresor lures Fortunato into the vaults by offering Fortunato a rare chance to taste a bottle of Amontillado.
