Circe’s Palace is a poem about Circe, the Greek goddess of magic who may look pretty on the outside but is evil on the inside. In “Circe’s Palace”, Eliot uses symbolism to convey Circe’s sinisterness. Eliot uses the word “fanged” to describe the flower petals which is an unusual word to describe flowers. He uses “fanged” to show that the flowers turn from something lovely into something sinister. Flowers are something that are seen as beautiful but Circe turns them sinister with her powers.
