His language that he uses is effective in reaching people because of how they can understand him; he tries to connect on a personal level showing he genuinely cares about the issues being talked about. Sanders facts that he uses during his speeches are helpful in showing that that he knows the information being talked about and he is using it to back his points. This list of accomplishments impresses his audience while also demonstrating that Bernie has the political expertise to be a successful president while also fighting for the people. In the narrative structure of the ad, Bernie’s time spent fighting for racial and social justice is a major topic where emphasis is placed. Knowing Bernie’s audience is inclusive of racial and ethnic minorities, these examples of Bernie’s fighting against injustice will give him mass amounts of credibility with his audience. Another rhetorical strategy used to appeal to the audience’s ethos is plain folks. The ad specifically states that Bernie went to public school, this is for the sole purpose of relating Bernie Sanders to the average American, he could not afford expensive private schools, contrary to other candidates. It is very common among the United States’ political sphere to rely heavily on T.V. commercials during election season; this is after all the most effective way to spread a message to millions of voters in order to gain their support. The presidential election of 2008 was not the exception; candidates and interest groups spent 2.6 billion dollars on advertising that year from which 2 billion were used exclusively for broadcast television (Seelye 2008.) Although the effectiveness of these advertisements is relatively small compared to the money spent on them (Liasson 2012), it is important for American voters to think critically about the information and arguments presented by these ads. An analysis of the rhetoric in four of the political campaign commercials of the 2008 presidential election reveals the different informal fallacies utilized to gain support for one of the candidates or misguide the public about the opposing candidate.
The United States, comprised of much political diversity, has only two major political parties, the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. The Republican Party was founded by anti-slavery activists on March 20th, 1854, and is represented by its mascot, the elephant. Often referred to as the “Grand Old Party”, or GOP, Republicans favor customs that exude traditional Christian values with a platform based on American Conservatism. In order to perceive the international situation and international politics, it is imperative to have general outlines that explain the political reality of every state and the relationships of these states with the other states of the world, especially the major powers that influence the progress of events in the world. Since the Islamic Ummah is commanded to carry the Islamic Da'wah to all people, it is therefore obligatory upon the Muslims to be in touch with the world with awareness of its conditions and perception of its problems. The Muslims must acquaint themselves with what motivates the states and the peoples and pursue the political actions that occur in the world.
Hillary’s America delves into the history of Dinesh D’Souza, Hillary Clinton, and the Democratic Party. Here, Dinesh D’Souza creates a refreshingly alternative viewpoint of the Democratic Party, compared to mainstream media’s usual left-wing stance. Being rather histrionic, watching this film for any reason other than for entertainment would be unadvisable. While containing many truths, Dinesh D’Souza’s documentary seems rather biased. This bias is understandable due to the harsh sentencing of his crimes, but if one is trying to convince others of something they believe, it should be done with bold truth rather than with exaggerations.
Have you seen any of the recent campaign advertisements that have been published by the 2016 presidential candidates? Presidential candidates are known for campaigning through different media outlets, such as television advertisements, social media, and their party rallies. In these advertisements, the candidates bash their opponents and try to show you why you should vote for them, and why you should not vote for their opponent. Hillary Clinton’s advertisements have really stood out to me and have been able to grab my attention. Bush’s method of topic by topic argument along with many emotional appeals was a rather effective way of winning the audience’s support. By appealing to the emotions of the audience Bush was able to give the audience issues they could relate to as well as issues they would feel strongly about. With an emotionally involved audience Bush was able to gather a great number of supporters of his party, just as he intended in his original purpose. The further reference to the character of the people involved in the issues really paid off by drawing the crowd closer to the people working for them. With the topical structure and the appeals used, the speech was a very effective tool in gaining support for the Republican Party from the northern Arizonan audience.
