The documentary film “A Place at the Table” is an analysis of the issue of hunger in America which focuses on the troubles of three people from different parts of the country who struggle to find adequate nutrition in their daily lives. Barbie the single Philadelphian mother really showed me just how bad some people have it. People that are starving in America I now realize after watching this documentary film are very different from people who are starving in African or Asian countries. The majority of people in America and the world most likely view someone that is starving as someone that is very skinny and lifeless. When in actuality it is different. They will change the way you look and feel. The old saying “You are what you eat” is a very true statement. The reason why their freedom is being robbed is because the majority of kids that are obese have diabetes and will always carry that weight with them in their minds and hearts for the rest of their lives. Being obese can not only destroy people physically but kill them physiologically as well. From watching this I also learned that there are however a lot of children who don’t know where their food is going to come from that day and have no choice but to eat processed foods because it is the only thing their family can afford. So if a person has only has a limited amount of money to spend their going to spend it on the cheapest calories they can get. The cheapest calories being the processed foods.
