The 22nd Amendment is to prevent the United States of America from turning into a dictatorship by cutting down the terms you can serve to two four year terms and to limit the power one person can receive. The 22nd is an amendment that protects not only the U.S. but the people that reside there as well. It’s the story of how the constitution had no term limit for the president to run for to how it came to be two term set by the example of the first president.
The 22nd amendment was passed by Congress in 1947 and ratified by the states by 1951. In which this document or amendment limited the terms of the president to two four year terms. It helps limit the power the president can receive and prevent them from getting “king like powers” it from turning into a monarchy.
The 22nd amendment reads: “No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once. But this Article shall not apply to any person holding the office of President, when this Article was proposed by the Congress, and shall not prevent any person who may be holding the office of President, or acting as President, during the

The unlimited terms died with him and people began to open up their eyes and create a bill that would save us from going a stray into another form of government. Power should be limited and if it not contained the outcome can be fatal if not dangerous. The Twenty-Second Amendment helps contain that power and limit it to a certain extent. This amendment is a safety net to prevent the dangerous from happening and protect the people from harm. If the Twenty-Second Amendment wasn’t so important then why are there people constantly trying to repeal it or attack it? Power? Could that be the answer? Many have tried and all have failed. The people have spoken, and they say that two is quite enough. Give a man a little power it can be contained, give him more, it can corrupt not only the person but the nation in which we live in.
