When you journey through this report, you will learn about the similarities and differences between humans and giraffes. Be prepared to travel through the world of a giraffe. You will experience how cool it feels to be taller than some trees. Explore their extreme features, diet, and habitat. They sometimes exhibit human-like behaviors in regard to their environment. Let’s investigate their world from birth to death.
Do you know how giraffes respond to their environment? One of the ways is how giraffes use their hooves. They can do many things with their hooves like using them to stand up and walk. Another thing that they can do with their hooves is to run quickly. They also use their hooves to defend themselves by using them to attack and scare off their predators. Their hooves are one of the many extreme features of giraffes.
Now you will learn about some other extreme features of giraffes which are their legs, skin coloring, and necks. To bend down, a giraffe spreads its forelegs and then lowers its head to lick salt from a natural salt deposit. A giraffe can even move its legs at a forty-five degree angle. These animals can run very fast because of their long legs and hard hooves. Their skin coloring provides great camouflage because it has many patches of different sizes and color. Since its neck is so long, a giraffe can reach food like leaves and shoots which are high up in the trees.
Here are some other facts that I would like to share with you about giraffes responding to the environment. Giraffes can be found in wooded grasslands in Africa, but mostly in savanna areas in the sub-Saharan part of Africa. It usually forms families between three and fifteen giraffes. Also, since they are considered wild animals, some states require a permit while other states make it illegal to have a giraffe as a pet. Maybe that is because they also think that giraffes should be left in the wild where they can be happy and healthy.
