The scripture block that I chose is found in Alma 46:1-21. After reading this scripture, I decided to further my understanding of the principles taught in these verses so that I could learn how to become more like Moroni in being bold and raising my own Title of Liberty. In the previous chapters, at around 74 B.C., Moroni was made captain of the Nephites at age twenty-five and led the Nephite armies to victory over the Lamanites. At the beginning of chapter 46, Amalikiah, "a man of cunning device and a man of many flattering words" (Alma 46:10), conspires to be king and works to persuade the hearts of the people to follow him. In the caption, I shared how grateful I am to live in a country where freedom is prevalent. I love America, and I am grateful to be an American citizen. It is in America that I can practice being a member of the church freely. On Wednesday, I posted a picture about peace and defended its importance to me. Because nature and scenery bring peace to me, for the picture, I sat on a tree and looked out on the beautiful Utah mountains while holding up a peace sign. In the caption, I explained that peace has an important impact on a successful society. I am willing to defend the importance of peace to the people around me because I am grateful for the ability to experience so much peace in my life. On Thursday, I posted a picture of my family. I wrote about how much I love my family and how grateful I am to know that families can be together forever. I will always defend my family members. America has always been known as “ The Land of the Free”. American’s have so many more freedoms than any other country in the world. The freedom to believe in any religion they please (freedom of religion), say whatever they want (freedom of speech), protect themselves (the right to keep and bear arms), and women rights set America leaps and bounds ahead of many other countries.

Many of you are probably wondering, “will Students for Peace end up in jail or will they be freed from blame?” We heard arguments from both sides of this important case that show if they are found guilty or not. After much careful consideration, the side that was more persuasive in their arguments was New York City. New York City did a great job at presenting their different arguments that show that Students for Peace was disturbing peace. They declared that Student for Peace was using violent fighting words that disturbed the young kids around them. NYC clearly showed that it was the wrong time to protest this violent topic in front of young children. They proved that freedom of speech is limited during certain times and Student for Peace was broadcasting their thoughts in a place that freedom of speech is limited.
I have you, my friends. You who look out for me, yet allow me to be myself. Eat cheesecake, drink a beer, run barefoot through the grass—and enjoy it! I know that my life could be much worse. What does it mean to be an American? Many people say being an American is a privilege, others might not think twice about being so fortunate. Being an American means that I have the opportunity to perform “The Pledge Of Allegiance” everyday, and that I have the right to freedom of speech. Being an American means to help another, no matter if they’re Afghan, Irish, Chinese, or Mexican. Being an American means helping your enemy, no matter how much it pains you, but you help them with dignity and pride.
