Bilingual Education is defined as the education that is presented to students in more than one language (University of Michigan). Any education system that uses more than one language is consider bilingual. Bilingual Education is used in school in the way that teachers teach both English and their native language, which could be Spanish, Mandarin, and so many others , with the purpose that students know more that one language, so in the future they can be bilingual. School used to offers English to children as a second language (ESL) , it is offer to children who just arrived to the U.S. so they can learn English in an easy way. There are three articles that are in favor of the bilingual education, demonstrating how important it is be bilingual for the society. The article “ON EDUCATION; It’s Latino Parents Speaking Out On Bilingual Education Failures”, by Samuel G. Freedman is telling us how a group of parents that are immigrants from Mexico and Dominican Republic, that raised their children in a neighborhood of Bushwick want their children to learn in school in bilingual language, they believe that is not fair that their children came young or even were born in the U.S. are not in a bilingual class. Gregorio Ortega who is one of those parents, which is the father of Geraldo , said that his son was born in New York and even that is not part of a bilingual class. I know is great to know English perfect as white people do but in one way we are unique, we do something that white people do not do and it is speak two languages. We are in a country that their official language is English but even that there are so many important people that are bilingual and there are so many jobs that require you to be bilingual, in my opinion parents should have their children to be educated in a bilingual system so they learn a new language and do not forget theirs.
