Several popular movies have presented different versions of the afterlife, each with their own purpose. Beetlejuice (1988) tells the story of two individuals who pass away in their home, and must navigate their new existence in the afterlife by reading a book entitled Handbook for the Recently Deceased. It is thought that those who goin through Purgatory are chosen by God to join him in Heaven. The concept of purgatory is unique in the sense that it differs from other Christian beliefs on the afterlife and cleansing periods before entering into heaven. Purgatory is a belief linked with the Roman, and Anglo-Catholic churches, and holds a very significant role in their religious practices. Most notable, there are specific prayers said during services specifically for those who are believed to be in purgatory. Prayers like "Prayer to Our Suffering Savior for the Holy Souls in Purgatory" are important to the faith, and demonstrate the importance of this belief in the Catholic religion. Each religion has its own idea of what will happen in the afterlife. In Buddhism, they believe that dying is apart of an ongoing cycle until the dead receive enlightenment. This cycle is called Samsara and by definition means an ongoing cycle of life and death until that person reaches enlightenment (heaven). There is a three stage cycle that occurs from the moment you die until you are reincarnated; This process is called The Three Bardo's. The first bardo is when the soul goes into a trance and often doesn't realize that they have passed away. People recall seeing a bright light once in this trance and if that person welcomes the light then they will not be reincarnated, but most people flee from this light. The second bardo begins when the person realizes they are dead. The deceased will see everything that they have done or throughout their life. The afterlife has been questioned so much, especially throughout the thoughts of religion. “Theories abound from logical to irrational, yet there is no concrete evidence about the afterlife.” (Shaw, 2017). The idea of their being an afterlife maybe hard to grasp because it is based on having faith. Due to this, hoping there is a heavenly estate after death is not wrong but there is no significant evidence to supports this idea. Therefore, what waits after death maybe neither heaven nor hell due to the varies influential factors that can contribute to the idea of the afterlife.
As far as mankind’s history can date, religion has had quite an intimate relationship with people. Although maybe it hasn’t always been identified in the same way as we identify religion today, spread across the world we have the remains of pyramids, temples, and even written in ancient texts from centuries ago dedicated to god, to the afterlife, to what lies on the other side. According the bible, Jesus is the son of God, and God is within Jesus whilst he is on earth. Jesus came to earth to preach Christianity. Jesus was the promised Messiah of Israel, and is often prayed to along with God. When having communal prayer, the speaker will close with “The Father, Son and the Holy spirit, Amen. Praying to the father (God), the son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost (Gods spirit within a person). In most every religion, the promise of some sort of afterlife is why most people believe. That is what causes so many things in life to go unrecognized. We do not live in a world were everyone stays forever young, there is always a beautiful sunset, and "ripe fruit never falls." Every living thing dies. That is what makes it all so special.
Most religions believe in an afterlife. If the deceased person wisely led a kind, generous and loving life, the soul or energy of the person will be rewarded with everlasting life in paradise. There is the Christian Heaven and the Buddhist and Hindu Nirvana. These two forms of spiritual places are very different, yet similar. They both share the same idea and purpose: a beautiful, peaceful place after death.

The subject of Raising the Dead is largely a taboo subject in the Body of Christ these days. Just like many other things, the church seems to pick and choose the instructions of Jesus that are socially or culturally acceptable in our generation or in this case multiple generations. The problem with this particulate direction is that it has mostly disappeared and turned to myth. But I petition your theological traditions today and suggest that God wants you to resurrect his commandment to raise the dead.
Imagine a world where death means the end of ourselves as we know, without any trace of who we were. The question of life after death is one that is very difficult to prove on either side of the argument, especially with numerous theories of an afterlife competing against the worlds ever growing knowledge of the human body. While some religions may say that an afterlife exists due to the suggestion of it in the respective religions holy book or teachings, these sources can be questionable to some one who does not follow the same belief. One way in which death can be viewed comes across the Catholic religion. The Catholic believers look life after death in a prospective of three different worlds, such as Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise according to the deeds committed during life. If a person during his or her lifetime committed any sins, this person’s next world will be the Hell. The traditional view in which people refer to hell can be found in the book written by Dante Alighieri, “La Divina Commedia”. The book states that the formation of Hell was given by the crash of Lucifer (the angel that wanted to be better than God) from the sky onto the earth. Crashing on the Earth in Jerusalem, his head formed an upside down cone inside the Earth. This is where is located the Hell. In the Hell, people pay for their sins with different penitences (12-13). For instance, a person that committed homicide will freeze in a lake frozen by the breath of Satan (XXXIV canto). If a person during his or her life commits any sins but asks for forgiveness, then he or she will go to the Purgatory. The purgatory is represented by an island with a mountain (23). One source states that “Purgatory is very similar to Hell; the main difference is that one will eventually be released from torture. The souls that go in the Purgatory are tortured with fire. These souls remain in purgatory until they become sufficiently purified to enter heaven”(2). For example, if a soul in the purgatory asks for forgiveness and pays the punition with some tests, the soul will be released and moved immediately to Heaven (2).
One of the most important things I learned about in this class was the link between religion, spirituality, and health. “Spiritual experience” can have many different meanings for every person, but all those experiences can have some significant impact on health. Many of the positive health impacts are extremely helpful, simply because we exist in such a crazy world. Religion and spirituality can be used as efficient coping mechanisms to deal with overall stress, anxiety, depression, and feelings about death. They can also provide a reason to live or exist in life; some people are not able to see a purpose in life without looking through a religion or spiritual lens, so their spirituality is essentially what is keeping them alive.
