The results indicated that most of the respondents are in favor of lecture method (92%) and they use the lecture method as an effective means for teaching and learning. Also, most of the reflections received on lecture method clearly indicated that it is still a dominant way of instruction in Nepal. However the written reflections received from respondents suggested some key measures to improve the efficiency of lecture method in classroom. So, there is no significant change in the application of lecture method in the real classroom situation despite the emergence of new learning approaches and strategies.

A sample of 120 instructors who complete questionnaire was used as a primary data for this study. Several conclusions are drawn based on the results and discussion presented above. Lecture method has its own limitations, although it also has benefits that cannot be ignored in learning process. In essence the lecture (a) is the mother of very beginning of schooling, (b) is more useful in higher education, and (c) helps to build a knowledge, skills and attitudes in higher level. This study conclude that there are advantages of using lecture method such as easy to practice, less time to prepare, high pass rate, high students’ satisfaction, little comments on instructors, appropriate to large classes and high level students. In addition, lecture method has its own own merits and demerits and while information technologies has come up in a castigating way there are problems of incorporating the latest technologies-friendly learning approaches and strategies in the lecture method. Instructors prefered to teach in higher education by lecture and discussion methods. It is because other resources are not easily available in Nepalese context. Also, it is obvious that instructors find lecture method as a easy method because it needs short time to prepare and deliver. It may be the prime reason that students of higher education in Nepal are found excellent in theoretical matters but poor in practical implications of educational
