After graduating from high school many teenagers decide whether they want to continue to pursue higher education or whether find a job and work. In today’s society, many individuals believe that receiving some form of higher education is important. I certainly agree that pursuing higher education is important in today’s society. Having any type of degree increases an individual’s chance of getting a better job as well as receiving a better pay, an individual also learns valuable skills in college and has a variety of options in the careers they want to pursue. There are many other advantages of pursuing higher education. Pursuing higher education provides individuals with many options, but is the student debt worth it after all? College tuition is increasing every year. Student debt is a concern for many entering a college. I personally believe that pursuing higher education is worth the debt. There is a greater chance of job satisfaction as well. According to the college board of education, “Among workers ages 30 to 45 with a bachelor’s degree or higher, 56% strongly agree that their jobs require them to keep learning new things. Among those with some college or an associate degree, 44% strongly agree with this statement, compared to just over 30% of those with a high school diploma.” Those who are satisfied with their jobs also report being happy according to the college board (“Trends”). Having a degree provides an individual with a broad range of employment in different areas of fields. While individuals with a high school diploma have only a few options like an entry-level position.
