Active Participation

I believe it is important for students and families to be active participants of their school. This shows that students really care about their education and school community. When a whole family takes action in the educational community, there becomes a strong connection between family life and school life. In addition to that, a precedent is set for children to put a lot of effort into school and education when they grow up engaging in school activities. My parents participate in Pre-Cana, which is program that helps couples preparing for marriage. I enjoy volunteering as an alter server, to help serve funerals, marriages and regular masses. Being an alter server helps me understand the parts of the mass and learn about the catholic religion in a new way. In addition to that, my family and I contribute to a group called the Down to Earth Christians that helps take care of the grounds around my school. By doing this I have learned it is important to care for your environment and it also allows me to see how hard work really pays off. As I participate in the Our Lady of Peace play, my parents also take part in the production by working on costumes and helping with lighting. This year, I was voted as class representative, to me this was a great honor and I worked hard to represent my class on student council. I have always wanted to be an active member of my school by doing school activities and intitives. At the end of the year, I was elected student council treasurer so I could have the chance to use my talent and passion in mathematics to help lead my school. Another thing I did this year was I joined the Advanced Art Club. We participated in many projects including making the set for both our Christmas and Spring Shows. I always try to get the most out of my education by working hard to understand topics and working diligently on group projects.
