A myriad of accidents occur throughout the United States each and every day. Accidents occur when hazards escapes detection through measures of prevention. Such can occur during a job or safety evaluation. Thus, as stated by Firstline, a safety management company, “when hazards that results in an accident are oblivious, an accident investigation may identify previously overlooked environmental, physical, administrative, or process hazards.” Therefore, the chief focus of an accident investigation is the determination of the evidence and facts surrounding the incident and the measures that can be taken in order to prevent future occurrences.
How an automobile accident is evaluated. (FLVS)
How automobile accidents are evaluated is specifically unknown considering that, according to OSHA, “there are currently no specific standards for accident investigation.” In reference to the basics, when an automobile accident occur, the primary action that follows are police and rescue workers are called to the scene, especially if a civilian is injured. Police investigates automobile crashes for many reasons, such as determining first-hand who is at fault, and even examining if there was any illegal activity related to the accident. Accident investigators take several measures in evaluating an automobile thoroughly. Principally, an investigator will secure the accident scene with equipment and devices that will flag out the scene which will eventually alert other motorists to avoid the accident involved vehicles. Paramedics or other rescue teams too, are often called to an automobile accident scene for the reason that the accident involved persons are severely injured. If whether an investigated accident involves speeding, depends on if it is a sole factor or as a contributing factor because speeding would not be the only reason the accident occurred. Drunk driving, human error and other errors are factors of accidents involving speeding. According to statistics of an unknown source, speeding as a sole factor of investigated accidents is 5% while as a contribution factor it is around an estimate of 16% but that’s adding drunk driving, human error, etc. to the equation.
