Abortions are one of the most controversial subjects for Americans. Many Americans think it should be a choice because it’s their body, but others think were created in the image of god and abortion is murder. Although abortions are convenient they are cruel alternatives to pregnancy.
What is an abortion? “An abortion is the ending of pregnancy before birth. An abortion cause the embryo or fetus to die” (Jacobs , , and et al 1).”Abortion comes from the Latin word abortio, which means to abort, miscarry . . .. In medicine abortion means . . . There are many types of abortion the differences relying on which one best fits the women and the fetus. A medical abortion is used only in the first nine weeks after conception and ends pregnancy by taking two pills. The first being mifepristone which blocks progesterone and makes the uterus very thin. Misprostol is the second pill taken a few days later that makes the uterus expands and empty.
Suction aspiration is a very common method used during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.

Abortions are very selfish and a cruel way to end pregnancy. Abortions wouldn’t be needed if females would take responsibility and either use contraception or own up to their mistakes. Abortion is murder no matter how you look at it and murderers should be punished for their actions. Choose to be pro-life and stand up for the innocent babies that can’t.

There are many different types of abortions that can be performed. The type used depends on how far along in the pregnancy the woman is. In the very early stage of the pregnancy, up to 49 days after conception, the woman has two choices. The first is to take a combination of drugs. This is called a medical abortion.
There are two types of ways to have an abortion, surgical abortion or medical abortion. Surgical abortion is a procedure performed in two different ways. If the women is in the first trimester the procedure is done with a suction. Around the twelfth week depending on the woman, it takes 2 to 3 days to prepare the cervix for dilatation. Medical abortion is done with two types of pills, mifepristone is the first pill you take to stop embryo’s growth. Sometimes abortion happens on its own this is known as a miscarriage or spontaneous abortion. But women can also choose to end a pregnancy by getting surgery or taking medicine. If the mother waits until the third trimester (when the baby is more developed), then she must have Partial Birth Abortion. Using Ultra-sound, the doctor grabs the baby’s legs and forces out all but the head. Scissors are then jammed into the back of the skull and opened, creating a larger hole. The topic of induced abortion has been widely debated for hundreds of years. The issue of abortion was argued way back in the time of the ancient Hebrews. In the United States, it became illegal around the mid 1800’s and not until the 1960’s was the argument for the right to abort brought back to the table.
Many people have their own opinions on abortion, that a fetus is a human being with a right to live so abortion is similar to murder. While other groups argue that a woman has certain rights, especially the choice whether to bring another life into the world. The groups that are for it think that abortion gives women the control over their own bodies, which it is their choice when and whether to have children or giving an option to choose to bring or not to bring a child with abnormalities to the world. Some children are born with severe disorders and some parents, being unable to care for their disabled child seek abortion as their one and only option because taking care of a child, especially born with abnormalities is tough work to do as a parent, so they decide whether bring a life into the world. They look ahead on what is best for them, and it is selfish. Or even having in mind that some do not want to become a single parent taking up two roles; a mother and father and they feel like every child should come into the world feeling wanted, loved and cared for. Another reason some women have an abortion is because they do not want to stop work or schooling, and these reasons are consistent across many countries, including America. Other reasons are because of societal pressures, women get little to no social support. But
Abortion, in my opinion, has been one of the largest debataable issues in American Society. There are so many aspects and views to examine before one can even begin to form their own opinion. In order to discuss an important issue such as abortion, we must first understand what it means. Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy before the fetus has developed and grown enough to live outside the mother. When abortion happens naturally before the 20th week it is called a spontaneous abortion, or miscarriage. If it happens naturally after the 20th week it is termed a late fetal death or a still birth. An abortion caused by a medical procedure is called an induced abortion. Most induced abortion are performed in the first trimester or first 12 weeks after conception.
Unlike vaginal birth delivery, the process of a cesarean delivery is quite different, but just as safe as giving vaginal birth (Taylor, 1). When delivering a baby using the cesarean method, there are two ways anesthetic can be used. The women can be put into an unconscious state using the anesthetic, therefore she will be asleep during the entire operation and her coach may not be present. The other way for the anesthetic to be used would be in an epidural or spinal block to temporarily numb the woman from her waist down. In this case the mother will be awake and her coach may be present to give her extra support. Once the anesthetic is working, an incision is made in the abdomen either horizontally or vertically, depending on the reason for the cesarean delivery. A vertical incision is made when the baby is in trouble and needs to be out as quickly as possible, when there is more time the horizontal incision is used. The baby is then lifted out of the uterus and gone for the APGAP procedure. The placenta is then removed and the mother’s reproductive organs are examined before closing the incision (Taylor, 1).
Abortion is inhumane and cruel. It causes harm to the mother. It also puts the baby through a lot of pain. When the baby is born it appears lout of the womb bloody, and in some cases burned. "The baby is born poisoned and burned" (www.mccl.org). This is cruel to the baby and causes a lot of pain throughout the process. Abortion can also be cruel to the mother. "Abortion causes possible harm and death to the mother" (www.mccl.org). Abortion can take away the gift of life which is also cruel to the mother. It is such an amazing process to conceive a child and everything that has to happen is an unbelievable process. It is cruel and inhumane to take a life away from any mother. The unnecessary pain the baby feels is uncalled for and should not ever have to happen. Abortion has too many complications and too many consequences that are overbearing for some mothers to handle.
Abortion has been accepted by the United States of America ever since the monumental Roe vs. Wade case in the early 1970’s, but is still a very controversial issue. Many people are for and against abortions. Some people say that the child inside its mother’s womb deserves the opportunity to live, while others believe that a mother has the right to choose whether or not her fetus can live or die. Other advocates for abortion claim that abortion helps keep the threat of overpopulation down. They also say that in many extreme cases, it is in the best interest of the mother and the child that the fetus be aborted. Abortion helps keep the crime rate low, so it should remain legal, they also say.
