The murder of babies, also known as abortion is legal. As life is considered to be the forming of cells, a fetus which is a mass of cells is life. This life is not taken seriously and aborting these innocent unborn is considered to be the freedom of choice, the choice of the woman no consideration for the unborn. Killing a living human being is murder, aborting a living human being, although not fully developed, still livening, is murder. Removing the choice of those who cannot speak for themselves by simply getting rid of a baby is wrong.
Close to 100,000 lives are being taken each year (Johnston, 2015), innocent lives, the lives of babies. Every year, babies are legally killed because they are not considered life, they are just a fetus. What is life? On Mars, life is a single cell (Baltimore Sun, 1996), in Canada, a fetus made up of millions of cells is not considered life. Who gets to decide what life is, shouldn 't it be consistent throughout? Murder is when one human being takes the life of another human being. A woman is a human being, a baby is a human being, a fetus is a human being. A woman, human being, taking the life of a fetus, human being, is murder. Though the baby is unborn, it is still a human being and as killing a human being is considered to be murder, abortion is murder. One hundred-seventy species of animals and their unborn fetuses are protected by law since that fetus is considered to be life (Anderson, n.d.). Nothing protects the human fetus. If someone were to cause harm to any of those animal fetuses, there would be severe consequences treating the action as a murder but in the case of an unborn baby, killing the baby is perfectly lawful. Thou shalt not kill; one-tenth of what may arguably be the most famous guidelines of morality in the western culture, and also the main driving force for pro-life advocates. The argument supporting their beliefs typically starts with the premises that a fetus is a person, and to destroy or to kill a person is unethical. Therefore abortion, the premeditated destruction of a human being, is murder, and consequently unethical. I deny the fact that the fetus, what I will refer to as an embryo up to 22 weeks old, has the right to live. The opposing argument is invalid because a fetus, although perhaps a part of human species, is not formally a person. This leaves it simply to be a part of the woman?s body, whose fate lies solely in the hands of the pregnant woman alone, no different from a tumor she might have. By proving this, the abortion debate then becomes an issue of women?s rights, something that is most controversial indeed. Furthermore, it is fair to question the credibility of many people against abortion because of obvious contradictions in the logic of their belief systems. The fact that this debate is relevant in modern society is ludicrous since there is a simple and plausible solution to this problem that could potentially end the debate for good, leaving both sides satisfied.

Only one person should be able to dictate whether a woman will or will not have a child, and that person is the woman herself. A woman should be the only one to decide what happens to her body. Abortion is an extremely personal decision between a woman, her family, and her doctor; there is no place for politicians or government to get in the way. The Republican Party rejected Roe v. Wade ruling and wants to outlaw abortions. They do not make any exceptions for the life or health of woman which is why their "partial birth abortion" bans have repeatedly been ruled unconstitutional by the Republican-controlled Supreme Court. Choice is a fundamental, constitutional right. It is a woman’s right to decide whether or not she wants to abort a baby, therefore it should be legal. It is too invasive for the government to attempt to dictate this. The ability for a woman to have control over her own body is necessary to civil rights. If you take away her reproductive choice then the government is basically forcing a woman to continue on with a pregnancy. How much is too much? How intrusive are we going to let our government become? Certain issues of morality are a personal decision, like abortion, which means they need to be decided and implemented by the individual.
Many may argue this topic of abortion and both have strong evidence on each side of the argument to say why they are correct and why you should agree with them; some people feel that teens should be allowed while others may disagree. The fact is that the current law allows a woman to get an abortion for any reason she deems necessary.It seems ironic that a people can get so emotional when it comes to animal rights, yet see no wrong in ripping a developed baby from the protection of the mother. A mother kills her unborn child because it is unwanted, but she's not charged for murder. Is it right? There is about 46 million abortions per year worldwide, and approximately 115,000 per day, but why? Is it because rape or incest, health problems with either the mother or the child, or just because the baby's unwanted or inconvenient at the time? (The Alan Guttmacher Institute.) The reason why I chose the topic abortion is because I was fascinated to hear that an estimated 80,000 - 90,000 surgical abortions are performed in Australia each year (Garratt, 2009). I find this issue important to address because Abortion is probably the world's most common surgical procedure (Arthur, 1999) and that it is increasing over the years, to the extent that people would find it commonly natural to abort the unborn child. By examining sources in relation to the issue, its creditability is its upmost importance so that we are able to understand the issue of abortion with clear understanding and judge for ourselves whether it’s right or wrong.
