It not only helps the company expand and grow, but also helps target smaller segments of the operations at a time and upgrade or update it to increase productivity of that segment (Kerzner, 2013). Managing projects is a challenge every project manager faces. Finding different ways of improving a project’s management is very important. Thus, utilizing lean and Six Sigma processes can help minimize project cost and maximize productivity.
ABC Foods is an assumed food wholesaler for restaurants in Fargo, ND. ABC Foods has been in business for a long time and have been able to generate high revenue and profit with the utilization of Lean Process and Six Sigma. As the company has been performing well above expectation, the board of directors decided in expanding the company by initiating its own delivery department. This will help the company expand its operations to a new level. Up until now, they used services of XYZ Delivery Services to deliver
There are two major failures in operations they can face during this phase. To tackle these failures, ABC Foods have come up with the following potential solutions:
1. Plan a trial phase: ABC Foods will initiate a trial phase for a week. During this trial phase, the company will keep track of the work load of the delivery operations. The daily volume of delivery as well as time to deliver to each customer will be recorded. This information will help the company understand if they need to add or cut down number of trucks and delivery being used.
2. Hire technical employees: ABC Foods should hire drivers with technical and mechanical background in case the trucks have mechanical issues. The drivers will be able to troubleshoot any basic issues with their trucks. This will reduce the cost of external mechanics, which can add up to a
